Adam Gold, Joe Ovies and David Glenn are on the move Monday as sports radio in the Triangle makes substantial changes..

Glenn’s show, which had been broadcast in drive time on 850 AM, will move to 99.9 FM The Fan ESPN Radio and will air from noon to 3 p.m.

Beginning at 3 p.m. on The Fan, you’ll still find The Insiders, Mark Thomas and Mike Maniscalco, on the air until 7 p.m.

Gold and Ovies become part of the Capitol Broadcasting team and their morning show will shift to 620 AM, which will acquire the name The Buzz.

Gold and Ovies will broadcast until 9 a.m. and will be followed by high-powered programming the rest of the day.

The programming on The Fan will be simulcast on 850 AM in the first weeks of the change to help the audience adjust its listening habits.

And as always, you can turn to WRALSportsFan.com for audio clips and updates on what’s happening in our market in the world of sports.

Does this mean that the affiliate of the panthers and the tar heel coaches shows will move to 620 am?

RIP 850/620. I am done with my 3 or 4 year experiment with sports radio. I guess I am one of the few people on here that get Bomani's sense of humor. Hate to see him go. Packman and Bomani are basically the only shows worth a listen in my opinion. 99.9 is garbage.

You would think since the Raleigh area routinely wins various "best place for" awards, we'd have ONE decent radio station. Yet we do not. Now they've messed up my drive home station/show. Thanks for NOTHING!

Let me get this straight- in the last few years, this market lost a great oldies station when WTRG became another mindless contemporary rock station. Now, those of us over 55 have no outlet for oldies music. Is this not a demographic group that spends money? Curtis apparently doesn't think it is except on parts of weekends. And now he's at it again with the sports programs.

He couldn't hold on to Wolfpack games, now lost to WPTF and instead on WRAL-FM, which significantly limits coverage area of those games. I also don't like the idea of farming out Wolfpack coaches shows to other stations besides WRAL-FM. In my opinion, this was a lose-lose both for Curtis and NCSU.

Now, we've lost our local sports talk from 9 to noon. 620AM, 850AM and 99.9FM are at this moment (10-11am) airing 2 national shows with no local, although Curtis says we'll have a 9-12 show eventually. Then, the best guy they have is shifted to noon-3pm on the lowest power station of the trio, and at 3pm is replaced by Pac Man, a Charlotte homer whose main interests are all things Charlotte- Panthers, NASCAR and Bobcats. God knows I hate the Panthers, not to mention Charlotte sports in general. Many fans here feel the same as I do.

The strongest of the 3 outlets, 850AM, will no longer air sports when the changover is completed. No doubt they'll become either a religious station or a Spanish station, maybe both. Slowly but surely, Curtis Media will drive us all over to satellite radio. They've destroyed this radio market.

I'm still trying to figure out why they're putting david glenn, the best local host, up against jim rome, the best national host. Are they purposely setting him up for failure?

Ever since Adam Gold became program director he has single handedly ruined local talk radio. I used to listen to 850 Monday thru Friday 8:00 - 6:00 and then on weekend mornings. It wasn't all great but good enough to keep me listening. Now I can only listen to Packman daily and occasionally Rome and Dan Patrick (nothing strictly local). You have to listen to newstalk 680 to hear college football preview on Saturdays, that says it all.

The good news is that Bomante is gone, I couldn't even make it through his obnoxious commercials for his show let alone 2 minutes of his stupid show.

monkey, monkey, monkey, monkey, monkey, monkey

    This is BS.

When I hear Morgan Patrick and 2 Live Stews, I'm convinced that there is either a vast shortage of on air talent, or that anyone with a passing interest in sports could host a show. What's with the constant yelling on 2 Live Stews?
As for Bomani, he's plenty smart, but if you have to constantly remind everyone how hip and smooth with the ladies you are, well, you probably aren't. His obsession with fighting was a little insecure as well.

Adam Gold and his glorified intern Joe are the reasons I switched to XM years ago. I do think that Dave Glenn is very good. What is the fate of Morgan Patrick? I have not seen his name mentioned.
