A delight to work with Li for caddie

Posted June 20

— As 11-year-old Lucy Li became a highlight of the U.S. Open, Bryan Bush was there every step of the way.

Bush is a professional caddie who spends eight months a year in Pinehurst and he jumped at the opportunity to work with Li.

“She is such a delight and she will keep you on your toes though. If you do wrong, she's going to let you know,” said Bush.

As for those who doubted the 11-year-old should be at the Women's Open, he says her play spoke for itself.

“We would have an uh-oh hole and next thing you know she would hit a hybrid or a fairway wood inside eight feet,” he said. “You don't see many of the adult pros doing that.”

Winning was never the main concern for Li, but just enjoying the experience.

“She was here for the experience and the opportunity to play with the best players in the world,” said Bush. “She proved that she can.”

“But it was fun,” said Bush. “We had a great time. I really wish her the best of luck and hope I get to work with her again sometime.”
