Adames, Smith Lead Bulls By Braves, 5-2

Lawrenceville, Ga. — Willy Adames drove in two runs to assist Burch Smith to his second straight win as the Durham Bulls beat the Gwinnett Braves 5-2 on Friday night at Coolray Field.
Adames, who collected his fourth straight multi-hit game, doubled home the game's first run in the fourth, then singled home Mike McKenry in the seventh.
Smith (W, 2-1) worked 5 2/3 innings, allowing only two hits en route to his second straight win for the Bulls (84-54).
Durham took a 2-0 lead in the fourth when Adames doubled home Daniel Robertson, then scored on a two out wild pitch from Aaron Blair (L, 7-9).
Shane Peterson tripled in Patrick Leonard from first base in the sixth for a 3-0 lead, then Adames chipped in a run-scoring single in the seventh to build the advantage to 4-0.
The Braves (69-69) rallied in the eighth inning against Jose Alvarado,, who allowed two hits, then walked three batters, forcing in two runs. Jaime Schultz entered to record the final out of the inning on a force at the plate.
Andrew Kittredge (S, 2) fanned the side in the ninth inning to record his second save.
The series continues with a 5:05 PM ET doubleheader on Saturday. Mike Broadway will start the first game for Durham.
