The Carolina Panthers used social media and their website on Tuesday to detail upcoming renovations that will be made to Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte during the next three offseasons.

Starting Jan. 21, crews will begin installing new escalators, ribbon boards, high-definition video boards and an upgraded sound system. The changes, which team President Danny Morrison said, "impact all fans, maintain the stadium's classic look and improve fan experience."

Extra-wide escalators at each of the three entry gates will allow fans to access both the 300 and 500 levels.

Five-foot high ribbon boards encircling the entire field will display scores, stats and advertising during games.

The high-definition video boards, which stand 63 feet high by 212 feet long, will be installed in both end zones.

The team will also improve the look of the entry gates with illuminated glass domes.

The team also posted a video of the plan for renovations on its website. No information about other renovations for future offseasons was released.

The stadium was built with private funding. It is Jerry Richardson's desire for the team to be sold at his death. In order for there to be a guarantee the team will remain in Charlotte for a period of at least 20 years the city has to have a vested interest. In order to have a vested interest, money is to be provided by the city of Charlotte for the necessary upgrades which are fan friendly and will eliminate the long walk up to the 500 section. In return, the city will enjoy a continued revenue producer from games, bowl games and concerts that draw crowds...and buy from the locals. Also, there's either 5 or 6 free dates that the city can book an event which goes straight into their pocket, thus saving $250,000.00 (Per event) in rental fees. So, it ain't all to fatten Jerry Richardson's pocket. It's just a matter of eliminating his family from squabbling over the team he founded and keeping it in the Carolinas.

The finances have already been worked out; I think there is a local restaurant tax increase that will help with the costs.

The stadium is apparently in need of upgrades and updates.

First Cam, then the defense, now this. Things are looking up for the Panthers.

He's already getting over $80 million from the city of Charlotte.

An improvement would be a playoff win this coming Sunday. The last playoff game there ended not so nicely, with fans leaving early in the 3rd quarter and the Panthers getting destroyed.

Tax hike in Charlotte. Residents fans will pay for the upgrades.

I trust that Mr Richardson will be footing the bill. Especially if they end up in the Super Bowl-he will be rolling in cash!!

His playoff game this coming Sunday sold out in 3 minutes. 3 minutes!! $8.00 beers-$6 cokes. He can afford to expand and renovate his own stadium without 1 dime of taxpayer money!!!
