North Carolina and NC State join three other ACC schools as part of the 16 NCAA regional hosts for the 2012 NCAA Baseball Championship, the NCAA announced Sunday.
This will be the seventh time the Tar Heels have hosted a regional and NC State's third time. The Wolfpack are 25-4 at Doak Field and North Carolina is 28-9 at home in Boshamer Stadium.
Each regional field features four teams, playing in a double-elimination format.
The three additional teams that will play at each site will be set when the 64-team field is announced Monday at 12 p.m. Tournament play begins Friday, June 1, and runs through Sunday, June 3. A seventh game will be played Monday, June 4, if needed.
Selection of the eight super regional hosts will be announced June 4 at approximately 11 p.m. The 66th Men’s College World Series begins play Friday, June 15, at TD Ameritrade Park Omaha in Omaha, Neb.
