Posted November 18, 2013

Boston College sophomore guard Olivier Hanlan and Duke freshman forward Jabari Parker have been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Basketball Co-Players of the Week, and Parker has also been named ACC Rookie of the Week for the second week in a row.

Hanlan averaged 28.0 points, 4.0 rebounds and 4.0 assists as Boston College went 1-1 last week. He was 15-for-26 from the field (.577), 6-for-14 from 3-point range (.429) and 20-for-23 from the foul line (.870). He scored 18 points and dished out a career-high six assists against Toledo. He then scored a regular season career-high 38 points to lead the Eagles to their first win of the year over Florida Atlantic. He was 11-for-19 from the field and 12-for-14 from the foul line. It was the most points scored in the ACC this season.

Hanlan, of Aylmer, Quebec, Canada, has scored 10-or-more points in 14 consecutive games dating to last season and currently leads the ACC in scoring at 24.5 points per game.

The 6-foot-9 Parker averaged 24.5 points, 9.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 1.0 blocks and 2.0 steals per game as Duke split games against No. 5 Kansas (L, 94-83) and Florida Atlantic (W, 97-64). The Chicago native went 16-of-31 (.516) from the field, including 8-of-13 (.615) from three-point range, and 8-of-11 (.727) from the foul line in the two contests. Parker became the first freshman in Duke history to score 20-or-more points in each of the first three games on the season.

Parker carried the Blue Devils in the loss to No. 5 Kansas with 28 points, nine rebounds and two steals. He was 9-of-18 from the field, including 4-of-7 from three-point range, and 5-of-5 from the free throw line. Parker scored 19 points, knocked down four three-point field goals and was 6-of-10 from the field in staking Duke to a 42-40 halftime lead at the United Center in Chicago. Duke bounced back with a 97-64 win over Florida Atlantic as Parker recorded a double-double with 21 point and 10 rebounds. He also added three assists and two steals, while making four three-point field goals in the win.
