Big Ten/ACC Challenge schedule set

Posted August 15, 2013

ESPN has finalized the network and time assignments for the 15th annual Big Ten/ACC Challenge Presented by DICK’s Sporting Goods on December 3 and 4. ESPN, ESPN2 and ESPNU will combine to televise all 12 games of the two-day event matching top college basketball programs playing for conference supremacy and the Commissioners Cup.

All 12 Big Ten teams and 12 of the 15 ACC teams will participate in the 2013 Challenge, including the three newest ACC members Notre Dame, Pittsburgh and Syracuse.

The ACC and Big Ten split last year’s Challenge with six wins each. In the event of a tie, the Commissioner’s Cup remains with the conference that won the previous year, which was the Big Ten in 2011. The ACC holds a 10-3-1 Challenge record, winning the first 10 events (1999-2008) while the Big Ten won the next three (2009-2011).

Every game will also be available through WatchESPN, accessible online at WatchESPN.com, on smartphones and tablets via the WatchESPN app, through ESPN on Xbox LIVE to Gold members and on Apple TV to fans who receive their video subscription from an affiliated provider.

Looks like Va Tech, Clemson and Wake are out of it.

The AD's from Wake Forest, Clemson and Virginia Tech should have raised holy you know what over being bumped by 3 teams that have never played an ACC game. And Syracuse gets Indiana at home, plus Pitt also gets a home game. And State, despite one of its best years in some time, gets the worst team in the B1G.

Never mind that Wake and Clemson have been in the ACC for 60 years, that's out the window as big money has arrived. Duke, UNC and Syracuse get the good games, and Louisville will get likewise next season.

I hate what this conference has become. I will no longer pull for the ACC as a conference, and I still wish State could get out of this league before it gets worse. And it will get worse.

I just wonder what is going to happen to the ACC tournament. The Big 10 Challenge is one thing, the ACCT a whole different matter.

They take the best teams for this Challenge, but you make a good point about Wake and Clemson. I wouldn't want to see any of the Big Four schools leave the ACC; I don't think going to another conference would improve anything.

This isn't the ACC anymore. It's now the ACC plus the good parts of the Big East except for Georgetown and Villanova (Uconn too but they were too shady). If Wake, Clemson and VA Tech want to play in the ACC/Big Ten challenge, they can...as soon as they become relevant again like the schools that are in it...
