— No. 1 North Carolina captured its sixth straight win Wednesday night with a 7-5 win over visiting Liberty (18-16).

Junior Colin Moran paced the offense with his team-leading eight home run of the year, an opposite field grand slam in the fifth inning that pushed the Tar Heels (31-2) in front, 5-1.

Leadoff man Brian Holberton reached four times on the night as he was 2-for-3 at the plate with two walks. Holberton connected on his fifth home run of the year, a solo shot that tied the contest at 1-1 in the third inning before Moran's go-ahead blast.

Making his first collegiate start, freshman Reilly Hovis surrendered just one run on three hits in 4.2 innings of work. Hovis struck out four and did not walk a batter but left in the fifth inning with the score knotted at 1-1.

Reliever Trevor Kelley (1-0) came out of the bullpen with a pair of runners on in the fifth inning and forced a ground out to get out of trouble before limiting the Flames to two base runners over the next three scoreless frames. Kelley would earn his first career win throwing 3.1 innings of scoreless relief.

The Flames would pull back four runs in the ninth inning against four different Tar Heel relievers before Tate Parrish recorded the final out for his first career save.

Carolina will now head to Blacksburg, Va. this weekend for an ACC series against Virginia Tech set to get underway Friday at 5:30 p.m.

that is good stuff, right there...kudos for BJ for following up with you....as a child, my Pop took me to see NCSU baseball...Tim Stoddard was a pitcher for the Pack, and he would go on to a productive mlb career, and win a championship with the orioles....after the game, i went on the field and asked for his autograph...he was very surly and acted like i was bothering him...that stuck with me, and i never gave a damm about getting anyones autograph from that point forward

Probably Walt Weiss. In regards to BJ Surhoff, funny story. When I was in school (about 12 years ago) at UNC, I was on Franklin Street one night around 1am. When out of blue, I see BJ Surhoff walking into I Love NY Pizza. Having been such a big baseball fan growing up, I ran across the street and followed him into NY Pizza. I politely asked for his autograph (on a napkin). To my dismay, he was a complete and utter jerk and told me to buzz off. I responded by telling him that he should appreciate that people still cared enough to ask for his autograph and that he was never that great of a player anyway. I then left the restaurant and continued down Franklin Street. A couple of minutes later and about 50 yards from NY Pizza, I felt a hand on my shoulder. It was BJ. He apologized and said he was just having a bad night. He gave me his autograph and thanked me for being a fan. I guess I'm still a fan.....

"Historical" UNC baseball players?? You mean like "Moonlight" Graham?

Seriously, you guys are just sad, sad, sad.

I am guessing that nobody at WRAL is interested in the historical UNC baseball players' participation in the bogus classes under investigation.
