Carlos Rodon and Karl Keglovits combined to no-hit La Salle as No. 10 NC State eased past the Explorers 5-0 on Saturday at Doak Field at Dail Park.

Rodon (1-1) torched La Salle for a career-high 14 strikeouts in seven innings, while walking only one. Keglovits pitched a perfect eighth and ninth to seal the first Wolfpack no-hitter since Gib Hobson pulled the feat on March 12, 2005 in an 11-1 victory over Maryland.

State (3-1) stayed locked in a 0-0 tie with La Salle (1-2) until the bottom sixth, when Tarran Senay smoked a two-run blast over the right-field wall. That homer marks the first of the year for the Wolfpack. The Pack added two runs on RBIs from Matt Bergquist and Sam Morgan. Trea Turner scored from third on a wild pitch to extend the lead to 5-0.

Rodon fanned multiple batters in five of seven innings Saturday, including the last six he faced and nine of the last 11. The sophomore's 14 strikeouts improves on his previous high of 12, reached three times in 2012. No La Salle batter put a ball in play during Rodon's sixth or seventh innings. Rodon has not given up a hit over his last 9 2/3 innings.

Jake Fincher finished 2-for-5 with a run scored. Will Nance added a pair of singles in his 2-for-5 outing with a run scored. Brian Taylor went 1-for-2 with a double and a walk. Brett Austin launched his second career triple in a 1-for-4 effort.

La Salle reliever Mike McLeod (0-1) took the loss after giving up five earned runs in the sixth. Starter Ryan Donohue matched Rodon for the first five innings, holding State scoreless on three hits.

NC State returns to action on Sunday, February 24 with a doubleheader beginning at 11 a.m. Fans can follow along with both games on Twitter via @NCStateBaseball, over the airwaves on 88.1 WKNC, or streaming on GoPack All-Access.
