— Proceeds from the Durham Bulls' auction of their R2-D2 themed Star Wars jerseys raised $19,820 for the Autism Society of North Carolina.

The highest yielding jersey belonged to Wool E. Bull, as the beloved mascot’s uniform top netted $2,500 for the cause.

The jerseys, which garnered praise from national media outlets, were made available online and during an in-game auction this past Sunday. Star Wars Night also generated the fourth largest paid attendance in Durham Bulls Athletic Park history, as the team sold 11,507 tickets for the highly anticipated theme night.

“The force was definitely strong with Bulls fans this weekend,” said General Manager Mike Birling. “Star Wars Night was an event to remember for many reasons. The crowd and entertainment were tremendous, but nothing was as important as the money and awareness raised to fight a disorder that too many families face.”

TheBulls return home Tuesday, May 13 to begin an eight-game homestand featuring visits from the Charlotte Knights and Louisville Bats. Tickets for all regular season games are available online at durhambulls.com, by phone at 919.956.BULL or in person at the DBAP box office.
