Durham, N.C. — Tampa Bay Rays outfielder Matt Joyce is scheduled to join the Durham Bulls for games at the DBAP on Wednesday and Thursday, starting a MLB rehab assignment as the team begins a two game home series against the Norfolk Tides.
Joyce, who has been on the disabled list since June 20, was batting .279 with 11 HR and 34 RBI in 62 games with the Rays prior to suffering an oblique injury. The 2011 American League All-Star was a key member of the Durham’s 2009 National Championship team, hitting .273 with 16 HR and 66 RBI in 111 games for the Bulls that season.
The Bulls welcome the Norfolk Tides for a two game Independence Week homestand starting Wednesday, July 4th at 6:05pm.
