Canes assign Matt Corrente to Charlotte

Posted October 2, 2013

Hurricanes defenseman Matt Corrente has been assigned to the Charlotte Checkers of the American Hockey League (AHL). Corrente cleared waivers Wednesday at noon.

Corrente signed a one-year two-way contract with the Carolina Hurricanes on July 10, 2013 after being drafted 30th overall by the New Jersey Devils in 2006.

In 34 games at the NHL level Corrente has notched six points, six assists and 68 penalty minutes.

The Carolina Hurricanes open their 2013-14 season on Oct. 4 at PNC Arena against the Detroit Red Wings. Individual game tickets for all Carolina Hurricanes regular-season games are on sale at the PNC Arena Box Office and via Ticketmaster.
