Canes reassign Palushaj to Checkers

Raleigh, N.C. — The Carolina Hurricanes reassigned forward Aaron Palushaj to the Charlotte Checkers of the American Hockey League (AHL) Wednesday after just one game of his latest recall. Palushaj was recalled on Monday to fill in for Radek Dvorak who was scratched from Tuesdays game in Montreal.
Palushaj, 24, played in the Hurricanes’ 3-0 loss in Montreal on Tuesday night, logging 9:34 of ice time. The Livonia, MI, native has played in all 41 of the Checkers’ games thus far this season, and leads the team in assists (24) and points (39). Palushaj (6’0”, 187 lbs.) made his Hurricanes debut on Jan. 5, in Carolina’s 2-1 win against Nashville at PNC Arena. He has played in 68 career NHL regular-season games with Montreal, Colorado and Carolina, scoring three goals and earning 11 assists (14 points).
The Hurricanes host the St. Louis Blues at PNC Arena on Friday at 7 p.m.
