Canes recall Aaron Palushaj from Charlotte

Posted January 27

The Carolina Hurricanes announced that the team has recalled forward Aaron Palushaj from the Charlotte Checkers of the American Hockey League (AHL).

Palushaj will travel with the team to Montreal tonight, and he will be eligible to play in the Hurricanes’ game on Tuesday at the Bell Centre against the Canadiens.

Palushaj, 24, has played in all 41 of the Checkers’ games thus far this season, and leads the team in assists (24) and points (39). The Livonia, MI, native made his Hurricanes debut on Jan. 5, in Carolina’s 2-1 win against Nashville at PNC Arena. Palushaj (6’0”, 187 lbs.) has played in 67 career NHL regular-season games with Montreal, Colorado and Carolina, scoring three goals and earning 11 assists (14 points). The St. Louis Blues drafted Palushaj in the second round, 44th overall, of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft, and he signed with Carolina as a free agent on July 11, 2013.

The Hurricanes host the Columbus Blue Jackets at PNC Arena on Monday at 7 p.m.
