Canes send Sutter to Charlotte

Posted November 3, 2013

The Carolina Hurricanes will assign forward Brett Sutter to the Charlotte Checkers of the American Hockey League (AHL), pending him clearing waivers on Monday at noon, team President Jim Rutherford said Sunday.

Sutter, 26, has played 12 games for the Hurricanes this season, averaging 6:56 of ice time per game. Originally drafted by the Calgary Flames in the sixth round (179th overall) of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft, Sutter has appeared in 49 career NHL games with Calgary and Carolina, totaling one goal, four assists (5 points) and 36 penalty minutes. The Viking, Alb., native scored 19 goals and earned 29 assists (48 points) in 70 games while serving as Charlotte’s captain in 2012-13.

Too bad E. Staal can't be sent down, would love to see someone claim him off waiver and free up some cap space.

this team stinks, who cares who is sent where...

  • I am not who you think I am Nov 3, 2013

lets send the Charlotte team to Raleigh and the sugarcanes to Charlotte....it couldn't get any worse

Skinner doesn't play they stink. The should send one or both of the Staals somewhere else. None of them can pass the puck a lick and none of them can shoot it on net. They keep getting the old guys and play them.

Where can we send JR? He REALLY NEEDS TO GO...so many bad decisions of late.

HHave you-all checked those Avs lately...think they are now 12-1 with a WHOLE NEW ADMIN staff, GM and head coach.......doubt they'll finish 81 - 1 for the season but getting 24 points in 13 games isn't TOO SHABBY!!!!!

Staal = Still to arrogant and lazy (captain that is)
Needs to be taken out back and taught a lesson

    E. Staal does not make a good captain. J. Staal was awarded the "A" for just signing a contract? Eric lacks drive when he is on the ice he has no hustle. Muller can't strip him of the "C" due to the micro-management from above. The 2nd and 3rd lines are out producing our 1st line. Goal tending bears some of the blame, but the majority of the problem is a lack of offense we have a team that can't score. our top 3-6 are having problems scoring. This is what happens when you do business with family and friends. and shop at the discount rack, you get a bad product. Ticket prices are higher, concession prices are higher, and parking has been raised; we still have a .500 team. Peters is a symptom of the disease.

Cannot believe they have not fired Rutherford. This is pathetic. What are they waiting for, the team to losr 10 in a row. Staal should be waived, not Sutter (Sutter hustled every shift), Rutherford does not know what he is doing and has not done a thing for this team for 5 years. Enough, make the announcement Rutherford is gone and Jordan Staal or Eric has been traded.

You know, this is the same conversation we have every year. We start out good, lose confidence along with a few players and fall to the basement in the standings. We call for J.R.s head and fire the coach...bla, bla, bla.

We seem to have players that can play but don't. Look at Jokinen...goes to Pittsburgh and is playing well. Already has 7 goals. Staal, who played well there, is stinking up the ice here.

    What's going on???
