The National Hockey League’s Carolina Hurricanes will hold their second-annual Alumni Fantasy Game on Sunday at 3 p.m. at PNC Arena. Admission and parking are free and no ticket is required, but fans can make an optional donation to the Carolina Hurricanes Kids ‘N Community Foundation at the door. Doors open at 2 p.m., and seating is general admission on the East side of the arena.

Twelve Hurricanes alumni are scheduled to participate in the Alumni Fantasy Game. Ron Francis will captain the red team, which also includes Cory Stillman, Shane Willis, Aaron Ward, Steven Halko and Steve Rice. Rod Brind’Amour captains the white team, which includes Glen Wesley, Bates Battaglia, Jesse Boulerice, Robert Kron and Tripp Tracy. The alumni are joined by individuals who made donations to the Kids ‘N Community Foundation to be a part of the game.

Hurricanes Play-by-Play Announcer John Forslund’s will call the game on the video board, and Stormy, the Eye Care Associates Storm Squad and host Amber Sersen will also be a part of the game experience. The Hurricanes’ coaching staff will work the benches for the game, which will be no-hitting, with three running-clock periods and full intermissions. The off-ice activities will be similar to a Carolina Hurricanes home game with a true, game-day experience from CanesVision and the promotions team. There will be normal intermissions and two TV timeouts per period, all filled with promotions, contests and interviews with Hurricanes alumni. The Kids ‘N Community Foundation will be offering a silent auction during the game, which will include select game-worn jerseys from the alumni game as well as other rare Hurricanes memorabilia.

The Kids ‘N Community Foundation provides much-needed funding to children’s charities and educational initiatives throughout North Carolina. The Foundation has funded scholarship programs, youth hockey, educational and literacy efforts, children’s health programs, the arts and other youth-related initiatives. In the Fall 2012 grant cycle, the Kids ‘N Community Foundation awarded $200,000 to four different children’s charities and foundations. Annually, the Foundation provides cash and in-kind contributions of more than $1 million to charitable and educational programs in North Carolina. Each member of the Hurricanes organization is actively involved in the community, and the Hurricanes take great pride in the ability to have a positive impact in the state. The Carolina Hurricanes visit the Washington Capitals on Thursday (7 p.m., FOX Sports Carolinas, Hurricanes Radio Network), before returning home to take on the Boston Bruins on Saturday at PNC Arena.
