Carolina Panthers 53-man roster projection
Posted September 1
Charlotte, N.C. — The majority of Carolina Panthers starters watched from the sideline Thursday night at Bank of America Stadium as their teammates battled the Pittsburgh Steelers in the final game of the 2017 preseason.
Among the non-starters was quarterback Cam Newton, who has thrown only two passes – both completions – during the preseason. Newton is rehabbing after offseason surgery to repair a partially torn rotator cuff in his throwing shoulder.
Teams have until Saturday at 4 p.m. to make final roster cuts.
This year only one roster cut will take place in the preseason, a cut-down from 90 to 53 players, which allows all players on National Football League rosters to play through the final preseason game.
Two cut-downs took place in previous years from 90 to 75, and then a final roster trimming to 53 players.
Here is the Panthers Blitz final projection for Carolina’s 53-man roster:
Cam Newton, Derek Anderson, Joe Webb
