Carolina Panthers Broadcast Bingo

Posted August 21, 2014

The Carolina Panthers will begin their 2014 NFL campaign on Sept. 7 at the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on FOX.

A couple weeks later, Cam Newton and his crew take NBC Sunday Night Football's center stage against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sept. 21. The Panthers also have two more spotlight contests later in the season, hosting New Orleans on NFL Network and a visit to Philadelphia for ESPN's Monday Night Football.

The national broadcast troupes assigned to Carolina typically have their talking points in advance in order to set the table in the opening moments of a game. Viewers will discover Newton has "matured."

They'll find out the Panthers had to replace Steve Smith, Jerry Rice and Randy Moss in the off-season (actually Ted Ginn and Brandon LaFell). We'll certainly hear the legend of Riverboat Ron and other scorching hot takes on Carolina's season in progress.

Rather than rolling our eyes at the same ol' narratives, let's have some fun. Let's play "Carolina Panthers National Broadcast Bingo."

Print out the bingo card above and play along at home. If anyone manages to fill it out, email a completed card to jovies@999thefan.com to become eligible for a surplussed item out of our 99.9FM The Fan prize closet.

Taking a jab at the lack of ingenuity in the national media coverage of the Panthers. Maybe you should take a look at yourselves, since your show hasn't had a sport relevant conversation in 3 months. Or maybe it's because this team isn't that interesting to begin with.

Joe, I think that's a funny article. The bingo card with cliches is kinda clever.

Joe, the issue of the puppet sports writers, sports casters etc. is valid. Can we please just go back to the days when you'd write a story about it and can the Bingo stuff? I know that when Chris Berman started being a smart guy on TV 30 years ago, it's inspired every one of you guys to do the same - break the mold - do your own thing - just write the story...

Obviously Joe, you did. You have the easiest job in the world. You talk about sports for 4 hours a day and according to them you are terrible at it. When they click on a "Carolina Panthers Bingo Card" article they deserve a Pulitzer quality piece, not some fluff article with "Narratives". You hate their team and love their rivals. They believe their is no room for Ovaries in sports media. (Ask Lauren Brownlow) They also hate the word "Snark". It sounds like the next Sci Fi movie, a shark with a snail shell. That or they are miserable curmudgeons. Either or...
