Coach K shuffles staff after Wojo's departure

Posted April 18, 2014

— Mike Krzyzewski promoted from within to fill the void left when Steve Wojciechowski left for the head job at Marquette. He announced two changes Friday: Jeff Capel was elevated to associate head coach and Jon Scheyer was promoted to assistant coach.

Both are former Blue Devil captains who played for Krzyzewski.

Scheyer, who played from 2007-10 and won the 2010 NCAA Championship, "adds a youthful exuberance," Krzyzewski said. "I think he will be a terrific teacher and an outstanding recruiter.”

He steps into a role that Wojciechowski held since 1999.

"I am going to approach it the same way I did as a player and give it everything I have," Scheyer said.

Capel has a history as a head coach (175-110 in nine seasons at Virginia Commonwealth and Oklahoma) and is one of Duke's top recruiters.

Whistling Dixie, do you ever have anything good or worth while to say? If so, I haven't read it in any of your posts yet.
