In football a lot rides on the quarterback during the game. This week's Coaching 101 goes into what an offense has to do in order to beat a loaded box. The box refers to the defensive players on the line and directly behind, ready to come in to defend the run.
A quarterback will direct his offense to carry out different plays depending on whether the defense loads the box with six, seven or eight players.
The defense will try to counter the number of players the offense has in their box in order to defend against the run play but with the same number pulled up, the defense is vulnerable to the pass play. Watch the video to see how the offense can take advantage of the loaded box.
