NCAA Game Summary - Oregon at UCLA

(Thursday, February 27th)

Final Score: Oregon 87, UCLA 83 (2OT)

Los Angeles, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Joseph Young scored 26 points and Mike Moser hauled in 20 rebounds, as the Oregon Ducks outlasted the shorthanded UCLA Bruins in a double-overtime thriller, 87-83, in Pac-12 Conference action at Pauley Pavilion.

Moser added 12 points and five assists for Oregon (19-8, 7-8 Pac-12), winners of four straight. Jason Calliste netted 18 points on 5-of-9 from 3-point range for the visitors, while Richard Amardi put up 12 points.

UCLA (21-7, 10-5) was without Jordan Adams (17.2 ppg) and Kyle Anderson (14.9 ppg, 8.6 rpg, 6.9 apg), who were both serving one-game suspensions for violating team rules. Bryce Alford stepped up for the Bruins with a career- high 31 points, shooting 7-of-17 from the field and 12-of-13 at the free-throw line. Zach LaVine pitched in 18 points, eight rebounds and five assists, Norman Powell poured in 14 points and Tony Parker had 10 boards.

Oregon shot just 39.3 percent from the field in the first half, but UCLA was even worse at a mere 30.8 percent, as the Ducks took a comfortable 37-25 lead at the break.

The Ducks still led by seven with under a minute remaining in regulation, but UCLA caught fire with a 10-4 run, and an Alford 3-pointer with six seconds left brought its deficit to just one, 69-68. Young drained a pair of free throws for Oregon at the other end, but with 1.3 seconds left, a full- court inbound pass found the grasp of David Wear, who drained the game-tying 3-pointer as the buzzer sounded.

Each side scored just two points in a quiet first overtime. Young had a chance to win it for the Ducks with the clock winding down but his 3-pointer was off the mark.

Young knocked down a long-range bucket with 2:31 left in the second extra session to give Oregon a three-point lead, and it held on down the stretch, shooting 7-of-8 at the foul line over the final 39 seconds to seal its fate.

Oregon won the rebounding battle, 50-38, and it scored 18 points off of 12 UCLA turnovers.
