GAME NOTES: Conference tournament seeding will be at stake for the George Washington Colonials when they take on the Fordham Rams in the regular-season finale between these two Atlantic 10 foes.

GW comes into the day at 10-5 in conference play. That's tied for fourth place with Massachusetts. The Colonials could climb all the way to second or drop as low as sixth, depending on what happens in this weekend's games. A top four seed would mean a bye through to the quarterfinals. The Rams, who are 2-13 in the A-10, will finish last in the conference and will have to play in the opening-round game Wednesday at Barclays Center.

On Wednesday, the Colonials downed Saint Joseph's, 76-71, in the nation's capital. Maurice Creek scored 20 points to lead GW. Joe McDonald added 18 points for the Colonials, while Patricio Garino finished with 17 points and Isaiah Armwood posted a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds.

The Colonials have built an impressive resume as a possible at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament, that is if GW doesn't win the A-10 tourney. Should GW get into the Big Dance, it would be the team's first trip since 2007 as the conference's automatic bid. The first task at hand is finishing up the regular season with possibly their third straight win. GW, though, has lost three of its last four road games.

What has energized the Colonials all season has been balance. They have five currently the only A-10 team with five players averaging double digits in scoring, led by Creek (14.3 ppg). Kethan Savage (13.4 ppg) is second, but he's still out due to a broken bone in his left foot. Armwood (12.2 ppg, 8.8 rpg), Garino (12.1 ppg) and Kevin Larsen (11.5 ppg) are also part of a GW squad that is also fourth in the A-10 in scoring defense (66.3 ppg).

The Rams have lost seven in a row, including a 77-65 decision at Rhode Island Wednesday. Branden Frazier led all scorers in the contest with 22 points for Fordham. Mandell Thomas chipped in 11 points, and Ryan Rhoomes scored 10 points with seven rebounds off the bench.

Jon Severe (17.8 ppg), Fordham's leading scorer, was limited to three points on 1-of-12 shooting Wednesday. Frazier (17.6 ppg) and Thomas (12.5 ppg) are the other double-digit scorers for Fordham, which is likely to finish with at least 20 losses for the fifth time in six seasons.

The Colonials have won 21 of the 27 all-time meetings, although the last time these teams played at Rose Hill Gym, the Rams came out on top, 63-58, on Jan. 28, 2012. In the first meeting this season, on Feb. 8, the Colonials were 93-67 victors. Creek had 20 points and Garino 18, while Frazier led all scorers with 23 points. Expect the Colonials to again dominate the Rams.
