GAME NOTES: The surging Wofford Terriers try to keep their momentum going when they host the Furman Paladins at Benjamin Johnson Arena in Southern Conference action.

Wofford won its eighth straight game on Saturday when it defeated Appalachian State 64-58. Lee Skinner led all scorers with 17 points against the Mountaineers, as the Terriers came from behind to earn the win. Skinner shot 6-of-9 from the field and added nine rebounds. Spencer Collins chipped in 12 points and CJ Neumann poured in 11 for Wofford, which trailed 36-31 at halftime but rallied in the second half for the win.

The Terriers' recent surge has put them in third place in the conference standings with a 9-3 SoCon mark, two games behind leader Davidson. Karl Cochran leads the Terriers in scoring with 14.9 ppg. Collins is next with 13.6 ppg, while Skinner added 11.3 ppg and 8.6 rpg, which is good enough for fifth in the SoCon. Wofford averages just 68.7 ppg this season, but during its recent winning streak is averaging 76 ppg.

Furman, on the other hand, comes into this contest struggling. Despite beating The Citadel, 76-67, on Saturday, the Paladins have lost 10 of 12 since beginning SoCon play.

Stephen Croone, the conference's second-leading scorer, scored 23 points, while adding five rebounds and four assists, as Furman ended a five-game slide. Charlie Reddick added 11 points and 10 rebounds and William Gates finished with 12 points for the Paladins, who ran out to a 24-8 lead and never looked back.

Croone's 19.7 ppg average this season leads the team. He also adds 3.5 apg, which is fifth in the SoCon. Kendrec Ferrara (10.5) and Larry Wideman (10.0) are the only other double-digit scorers for the Paladins, who average just 66.2 ppg and yield 74.2 ppg.

This is the second meeting of the season between these two schools. Back on Jan. 25, Cochran scored a game-high 22 to lead Wofford to a 76-52 win over Furman. Collins chipped in with 20 points and Eric Garcia scored 10 to help the Terriers, who put together a 15-1 spurt to turn a four-point deficit into a 10-point first-half lead. The Terriers would eventually go into halftime with a 37-29 advantage and then win going away. Croone led the Paladins with 15 points.

Don't expect this game to be much different. Wofford is a strong 8-3 at home this season, while Furman is just 3-11 on the road. Despite Croone's scoring, the Paladins don't have a great deal of support around him.
