GAME NOTES: The Detroit Titans will continue their road trip as they invade the JMU Convocation Center for a non-conference matchup against the James Madison Dukes on Tuesday.

Detroit could not keep up with Kevin Ollie's Huskies and suffered a 101-55 setback to Connecticut at Gampel Pavilion on Thursday. The setback dropped the Titans to a 1-2 record with their only victory coming over NAIA foe University of Michigan-Dearborn at home. Coach Ray McCallum's squad was one of the elite teams in the nation last year on the offensive end with an average of 78 points per game on 45.6 percent shooting from the floor. The Titans are clearly going to struggle to reach those numbers in 2013-14 as they have shot a mere 36.7 percent and made only 14-of-60 attempts from beyond the arc through their first three outings.

James Madison will be looking to continue the momentum it built in DeKalb where it rose back up to the .500 mark with a 2-1 performance in the NIU Invitational. The Dukes took down Northern Illinois in their opening round game before falling to Milwaukee on the second day. Coach Matt Brady's squad left on a positive note as it coasted to a 79-66 win over San Jose State on Sunday. The Dukes played very well defensively versus the Spartans, who were limited to just 33.9 field goal efficiency including a 10-of-40 clip from 3- point range.

This will be just the second meeting between Detroit and James Madison. These schools first met on Feb. 18, 2012 in a BracketBusters matchup and the Titans defended their home floor successfully to earn an 82-70 decision.

The Titans will rely on junior forward Juwan Howard Jr. this season. The son of the former Michigan Wolverine superstar posted a double-double in two straight games to start the season and leads the team with averages of 18 points and nine rebounds per contest. Evan Bruinsma is Detroit's second leading scorer (9.3 ppg) and rebounder (7.7 rpg), but has converted only 25 percent of his field goal tries and committed a team-high total of eight turnovers. Michigan transfer Carlton Brundidge is also off to a slow start as he has contributed just seven ppg after draining just 28.1 percent of his attempts from the floor and just 3-of-9 at the free-throw line.

JMU used a collective effort to down the Spartans in its last outing as four players scored in double figures. Andrey Semenov, who scored 30 total points in the first two games of the NIU Invitational, was not among the double-digit scorers as he was held to 2-of-9 shooting from the field and committed four turnovers. Taylor Bessick picked up the slack as he sank 8-of-10 field goal tries to net a team-high 19 points while freshman forward Tom Vodanovich contributed 15 points and eight rebounds. Charles Cooke missed five of his seven shots from the field, but converted 10-of-12 at the charity stripe to add 15 points. Ron Curry also contributed 11 points to go along with four assists.

The Dukes have been a streaky team, while Detroit has been consistently poor. However, the Titans' two Division I foes so far are both potential NCAA Tournament teams and JMU's last three opponents would be lucky to finish with a winning record. Howard Jr. is a very talented player who could drive Detroit to a victory on his own, but the Dukes are dangerous if Semenov regains his touch.

Sports Network Predicted Outcome: Detroit 73, James Madison 68
