GAME NOTES: The Austin Peay Governors travel to Music City to take on the Belmont Bruins in an Ohio Valley Conference battle at the Curb Event Center on Saturday.

Austin Peay is just 4-6 in its last 10 games. The last time out, they downed Tennessee State in a 75-65 final on Thursday night also in Nashville.

Belmont comes in a much hotter team, having won six of its last seven. The Bruins beat Murray State on Thursday night at home, 99-96.

The Governors have a decided edge in the all-time series, leading 30-11. Belmont won the sole meeting last season, 78-65, in Clarksville.

Travis Betran netted 21 points to lead the Governors over Tennessee State. Ed Dyson scored 20 points while Will Triggs finished with a dozen. Chris Horton made his mark with eight points, seven boards and five blocked shots. APSU dominated the opening 20 minutes of play en route to a 42-24 lead at intermission. The visitors sank 65.4 percent of their field goal tries, including a 5-of-7 effort from 3-point range and limited the Tigers to 30.3 percent efficiency from the floor in the decisive first half.

Horton paces the team this season in scoring with a 13.8 ppg average on an impressive 61.9 percent shooting touch from the floor. Horton nearly averages a double-double with 9.7 rpg, but has an immense total of 75 blocked shots to lead the OVC. Betran is second on the team in scoring with 13.8 ppg, and Triggs is third at 12.3 ppg. Damarius Smith tops the squad with 130 assists.

The Murray State Racers were able to steal an inbounds pass with 3.5 seconds remaining, but a 3-point attempt at the buzzer bounced off the back rim, giving the Bruins the victory Thursday. Blake Jenkins and J.J. Mann each tallied 25 points for Belmont. Mann added nine rebounds to his stat line in the win. Craig Bradshaw scored 22 points with six assists, and Drew Windler notched a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds.

Mann and Bradshaw have separated themselves for Belmont this season in terms of scoring. Mann tops the team with 17.5 ppg, while Bradshaw checks in behind him at 16.4 ppg. Reece Chamberlain, who leads the team with 98 assists on the season, is third with 10.8 ppg. Blake Jenkins tops the Bruins in rebounding at 5 rpg. They are scoring at a healthy 79.6 ppg clip, good for second in the OVC, but giving up 76.2 ppg at the defensive end. They are knocking down a league-best 49.7 percent of their field goal attempts.

The Bruins are a high-scoring squad on a roll, so expect them to continue their hot streak as they take down the visiting Governors.
