GAME NOTES: The Georgia State Panthers will attempt to tie a program record with their 11th straight win on Saturday afternoon when they head to Fant- Ewing Coliseum for a Sun Belt Conference showdown with the ULM Warhawks.

With Georgia State's 77-70 victory over Louisiana on Thursday night, it extended its winning streak to 10 games, just one shy of the team record set during the 2011-12 campaign. The Panthers are now 13-6 overall and alone in first place in the league at 6-0, and they have held their own on the road as well (5-5).

ULM has had a much more modest season, going 6-8 overall with a 3-3 mark in the Sun Belt. After winning back-to-back road games, the Warhawks returned to Fant-Ewing Coliseum on Thursday only to lose to Western Kentucky, 69-51, to slip to 3-3 at home.

The Warhawks are 5-0 all-time versus the Panthers, but the newly-formed conference rivals haven't play one another since 1981.

The Panthers trailed Louisiana by three with under four minutes to play in their most recent contest before using a 10-0 run to surge ahead. They shot a lackluster 40.4 percent from the field and were outrebounded by the Cajuns, 49-31, but they were able to put the game away late by draining 25-of-31 at the free-throw line in the second stanza. R.J. Hunter was the standout with 33 points on 5-of-7 from 3-point range and 12-of-14 at the foul line. Ryan Harrow poured in 17 points, and Manny Atkins tallied 11 points, 11 rebounds and three blocks.

Georgia State has had no issues putting points on the board this season, netting 79.1 ppg on 47.5 percent from the field, which helps mask its lackluster scoring defense (71.4 ppg). It's also aided by a +5.8 turnover margin, which ranks in the top-10 in the nation. Hunter leads the way with 19.8 ppg, doing the majority of his damage from beyond the arc (62-of-150). Harrow brings 17.8 ppg and 4.6 apg to the table, while Atkins (13.8 ppg, 5.7 rpg), Devonta White (9.8 ppg) and Curtis Washington (8.5 ppg, 5.9 rpg, 2.8 bpg) round out the balanced starting lineup.

The Warhawks didn't have much of a chance against WKU earlier in the week, as they were outshot from the field, 51 percent to 38.6 percent, and outrebounded, 35-25, en route to the 17-point loss. They were also just 3- of-16 from 3-point range and a dreadful 14-of-26 from the foul line. Tylor Ongwae paced the losing effort with 11 points and six rebounds, while Amos Olatayo put up 10 points off the bench.

On the season, ULM has underwhelmed on both ends of the floor, shooting 66.6 ppg on 42.6 percent from the field, while allowing 71.1 ppg on 44.1 percent shooting. It also commits 1.6 more turnovers per game than it forces and shoots itself in the foot in close games with just a 62.4 percent showing from the charity stripe. Ongwae (15.4 ppg) and Olatayo (13.2 ppg, 5.3 rpg) are the squad's top scoring threats, while Jayon James fills up the stat sheet with 9.9 ppg, 6.0 rpg, 4.1 apg and more than a steal per contest.

ULM has been inconsistent this season and hasn't found much solace on its home floor, losing its last two outings there by a combined 43 points. Georgia State is red hot and should be able to overcome its road surroundings in this one for its 11th straight victory.
