GAME NOTES: The George Washington Colonials will try to build off a statement win from earlier in the week when they match up with the St. Bonaventure Bonnies in an Atlantic 10 Conference matchup at the Reilly Center.

The Colonials tangled with regional rival VCU on Wednesday night and pulled out a 76-66 victory at home. The win was the third in the last four games for George Washington, which is 14-3 overall, 5-0 in league play and 2-1 in limited road experience. Another away contest is next on the schedule against George Mason.

The Bonnies are returning home after a difficult road trip in which they were handed losses from 16th-ranked Massachusetts (73-68) and 24th-ranked Saint Louis (66-60). They are now 11-6 overall, although that includes a mark of just 1-3 against the rest of the A-10. They entertain La Salle next.

GW hosted the only duel between these squads last season and captured a 78-59 win. The victory ended a two-game win streak for SBU in the all-time series, which the Colonials lead by a 32-24 margin.

Despite 21 turnovers, which led to 24 points for their foe, the Colonials were able to top VCU by shooting 56.3 percent from the floor, while limiting the Rams to just 36.8 percent. Patricio Garino made a real impact off the bench, netting a career-high 25 points.

It was not just a career-night for Garino, as Kevin Larsen (11.2 ppg, 6.2 rpg) posted a personal best of 22 points and Isaiah Armwood (11.3 ppg, 8.2 rpg, 2.6 bpg) grabbed 14 rebounds, which tied the best effort of his career. Maurice Creek (14.1 ppg), who is the leading scorer overall this season, was left out of the group, finishing with just four points on 1-of-5 shooting as well as seven turnovers. Kethan Savage (13.2 ppg) also had an off night from the floor, recording just four points on 2-of-6 shooting. As a team, the Colonials are ranked fifth in the league in scoring (75.1 ppg) and fourth in field goal percentage (.466).

The Bonnies fought admirably against Saint Louis, but in the end their 39.3 percent shooting performance and a 45-32 deficit on the boards was too much to overcome. Matthew Wright finished with a team-high 17 points in the losing effort, but he hit just 6-of-17 shots from the field.

Wright (16 ppg, 3.4 apg) is the top scorer on the roster for the Bonnies, although his reliance on shooting from beyond the arc has led to some erratic performances, with his success rate from the field hovering just above 40 percent. Charlon Kloof (12.2 ppg, 4.8 apg) works well as a secondary scorer, while running the point as the team's leader in assists. He also ranks second in the A-10 in that area. Andell Cumberbatch (10.5 ppg, 5.1 rpg) is the unit's only other double-digit scorer, while Youssou Ndoye (8.8 ppg, 5.78 rpg, 2.1 bpg) is a talented shot-blocker.

Ndoye is going to have his hands full dealing with Armwood and Larsen in the Colonials' frontcourt. If Creek and Savage return to form, a disadvantage on the interior will be even harder to overcome.

Sports Network Predicted Outcome: George Washington 75, St. Bonaventure 71
