Forbes finished with team-highs of 21 points and six rebounds as IPFW (22-9, 10-4 Summit) concluded its regular season with its third consecutive win. Luis Jacobo added 20 points, while Joe Edwards provided a spark off the bench with 18 points. Omaha connected on 42.4 percent of its field goal tries and converted 13-of-14 shots at the charity stripe in the first half. The Mastodons went into the break trailing, 45-43, despite shooting 56 percent from the floor, including a 5-of-11 clip from beyond the arc in the opening period.

IPFW used an 11-2 run to erase a nine-point deficit and tie the score at 71 by the 3:46 mark of the second half. Mo Evans made a pair of free-throw attempts with eight seconds left in regulation to give the Mastodons an 82-79 lead before Devin Patterson drained a 3-pointer for Omaha to even the score. IPFW failed to answer as Jacobo missed a last second attempt from 3-point range.

In overtime, Omaha held a 95-90 lead with 27 seconds left. The Mastodons rallied back as Forbes made two free-throw attempts and Bland put in a layup. The Mavericks committed turnovers on their final two possessions an Forbes drew contact on a 3-point attempt with one second left. After sinking his first two attempts, Forbes missed his third free throw try and Omaha did not have enough time to get off a desperation heave before the buzzer.

IPFW outscored the Mavericks, 42-30, in the paint. Omaha lost despite holding a 39-27 edge in the rebounding battle.
