GAME NOTES: The LSU Tigers will attempt to close out their two-game road swing undefeated on Wednesday night, as they head to Tad Smith Coliseum for an SEC clash with the Ole Miss Rebels.

LSU snapped a two-game losing streak on Saturday with an impressive road win at South Carolina, 71-68, to improve to 1-1 in the SEC. The Tigers are an impressive 10-4 on the season, which includes wins in two of their three road games.

Ole Miss is also off to a 1-1 start in league play after defeating Auburn on Jan. 9 (65-62) and losing at Mississippi State on Saturday (76-72). The Rebels are a solid 10-5 on the season (6-3 at Tad Smith Coliseum), but they have been trending in the wrong direction in recent weeks with losses in three of their last five.

In the all-time series that dates back to 1909, LSU holds a 117-86 lead over Ole Miss, although the Rebels have had the upper hand in recent years with wins in five of the last six meetings.

In a game that consisted of eight ties and 12 lead changes, the Tigers took control late in the second half against South Carolina by building a 14-point lead and was able to hold on down the stretch for the victory. They nearly blew it by shooting just 39.3 percent from the field and committing 19 turnovers, but it earned extra possessions by winning the rebounding battle, 42-32. Jarrell Martin provided a punch off the bench, shooting 5-of-6 from the field and 7-of-8 from the free-throw line en route to 18 points. Johnny O'Bryant III tallied 13 points and seven rebounds, while Jordan Mickey also put up 13 points.

LSU has one of the SEC's most potent offenses this season, as it shoots 44.8 percent from the field for 75.5 ppg, which is more than enough to support its solid defensive effort (.383, 67.4 ppg). O'Bryant (14.4 ppg, 7.4 rpg) and Mickey (13.9 ppg, 7.2 rpg) make up a strong frontcourt duo, with Mickey shooting 58.7 percent from the field while ranking second in the league in blocks (3.5 bpg). Andre Stringer scores 11.4 ppg and Martin, Anthony Hickey and Shavon Coleman all net between 8.1 and 8.6 ppg.

Ole Miss dug itself a nine-point hole at intermission of its most recent game against rival Mississippi State and could never fully recover on its way to a four-point loss. Despite draining 10 3-pointers, it shot just 37.7 percent overall and committed a game-high 16 turnovers, which directly resulted into 25 MSU points. Jarvis Summers shot 7-of-15 from the floor and 6-of-6 from the stripe for 23 points, and he's now score 20 or more in five of the past seven games. LaDarius White scored 16 and Derrick Millinghaus chipped in 15 points and seven boards.

The Rebels are one of the few teams in the SEC that boasts a better scoring offense than LSU (78.3 ppg), and its a good thing considering its scoring defense (71.6 ppg) ranks last in the league. Marshall Henderson (18.8 ppg) served a suspension during the first two SEC games but will return to the lineup in this one, and his presence from beyond the arc (53-of-138) will provide a much-needed boost. Summers (17.9 ppg) shoots 52.4 percent from the floor, including a blistering 51.8 percent from 3-point range. Millinghaus rounds out the double-digit scorers with 11.2 ppg.

LSU holds that advantage down low with O'Bryant and Mickey, but Ole Miss the better outside shooting squad, especially with the return of Henderson. It should be a battle until the end, but expect the Rebels' home crowd to give them a boost down the stretch.

Sports Network Predicted Outcome: Ole Miss 79, LSU 77
