GAME NOTES: The Saint Peter's Peacocks hope a return home will help them get out of a slump as they host the Siena Saints in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference bout at the Yanitelli Center on Friday night.

Siena was riding a three-game win streak before its last outing, but the Saints were outlasted in overtime by Quinnipiac, 103-95, last Saturday. The loss dropped Jimmy Patsos' squad to 10-13 overall, although the Saints have been able to fight to an even 6-6 mark in conference play. A home game against Fairfield is next on the schedule.

Saint Peter's encountered Manhattan in its most recent game, but fell short in a 64-49 final on the road. The Peacocks have lost five straight contests and are now 7-14 overall, including a paltry 3-9 against the rest of the league. They will host Monmouth on Sunday.

It has been just over two weeks since Siena earned a 64-47 victory over Saint Peter's in the first meeting between the two this season. The Peacocks have still won five of the last seven matchups, and lead the all-time series, 43-38.

In their loss to Quinnipiac, the Saints set a school record. However, it was not one to be proud of, as they committed 40 fouls, which led to a 47-25 scoring differential at the free-throw line. The loss wiped away strong showings from Rob Poole (26 points) and Marquis Wright (18 points, 10 assists).

By putting up 95 points in the loss, the Saints were able to post their highest scoring total of the season, and first of more than 80 points since an 84-71 victory over Niagara in early December. Siena is averaging 70.1 ppg on 42.8 percent shooting for the season, ranking eighth and fifth, respectively, in each category. Poole (15.6 ppg, 5.8 rpg) is the most potent scorer on the roster, with talented reserve Evan Hymes (10 ppg) serving as the only other player averaging in double figures. Brett Bisping (9.6 ppg), Lavon Long (9.2 ppg) and Wright (8.4 ppg, 5.6 apg), who leads the MAAC in assists, are other reliable contributors.

Saint Peter's just couldn't get into an offensive rhythm against Manhattan on Tuesday. The Peacocks only made good on 36 percent of their shots from the floor, including a miserable 1-of-12 effort from beyond the arc. Marvin Dominique had 15 points and nine boards, but he connected on just 7-of-16 from the floor.

The Peacocks are one of the least effective offensive teams in the MAAC, ranking next-to-last in both scoring (63.6 ppg) and field goal percentage (.395). Failure to move the ball is a big weakness, as they are last in the conference in assists (9.8 apg). Dominique (17.1 ppg, 8.7 rpg) is one of the better post players in the MAAC, but he is not getting enough help from his supporting cast. Desi Washington (12.9 ppg) is the next best scorer, but he is only shooting 35.5 percent from the field on the season. There are no other players on the roster netting more than 8.5 ppg.

The Saints may not be an overly impressive unit, but compared to Saint Peter's Siena is an offensive juggernaut.

Sports Network Predicted Outcome: Siena 69, Saint Peter's 65
