NC State's Leslie to enter NBA Draft

Raleigh, NC (Sports Network) - North Carolina State forward C.J. Leslie has decided to skip his senior season to enter the 2013 NBA Draft.

Leslie chose to return to the Wolfpack last April and led the team in scoring for the second straight year. He averaged 15.1 points with 7.4 rebounds in 35 games, a slight increase from last year's numbers of 14.7 points and 7.3 rebounds.

"After discussing this with my family and coach (Mark) Gottfried, I have decided this is the right move for me and my family," Leslie said Monday in a statement. "Growing up watching NC State basketball, I'm honored to have been a part of this program for the past three years. I'm proud to have been a part of helping re-establish the Wolfpack as one of the nation's elite programs."

NC State has reached the NCAA Tournament each of the last two years after a five-year absence. The Wolfpack lost in the Sweet 16 last March and this year fell in the second round to Temple.

Leslie started 85 of the 99 games he played in three seasons with the Wolfpack and averaged 13.7 points. His 1,359 points rank 23rd all-time in school history, while his 135 blocks are fifth in program annals.

"It has been a pleasure getting to know and coach Calvin," said coach Mark Gottfried, who just completed his second season with the Wolfpack. "I want to thank him for all he's done for this program, and I believe he has a bright career ahead of him at the next level."

Leslie is the second member of this year's Wolfpack squad to depart early for the NBA, as Lorenzo Brown made his decision last week.
