GAMES NOTES: The top-seed Stony Brook Seawolves continue their run towards a America East Conference Tournament title when they battle the fourth-seeded Albany Great Danes in the semifinals at SEFCU Arena.

Sam Rowley hit a crucial jumper in the final 20 seconds to lift Albany to a thrilling 50-49 victory over fifth-seeded Maine in Saturday's quarterfinals. The Great Danes are an impressive 22-10 this season with wins in three of their last four games. Albany is looking for a return to the conference title game since winning back-to-back league titles in 2006 and 2007.

Stony Brook was the top team in the league this season and looked the part in its quarterfinal matchup with eighth-seeded Binghamton. The Seawolves rolled to a 72-49 victory in the contest to improve to 24-6 on the campaign. Stony Brook is one of four teams in the league that has never won the conference tournament, although the Seawolves have come close with losses in the title game each of the last two seasons.

In the regular season Stony Brook won both matchups with Albany, including a 65-49 win in the same building the teams will meet up at on Sunday. Albany still leads the all-time series, 36-24.

Rowley finished with a game-high 19 points, eight of which came in the last two and a half minutes for Albany on Saturday. The Great Danes shot at just a 34 percent clip in the contest but outscored the Black Bears 13-4 from the free-throw line and 8-3 on second chance points while forcing 17 turnovers.

Normally it is Mike Black (14.9 ppg) and Jacob Iati (12.2 ppg) leading the way for the Great Danes and not Rowley (9.4 ppg, 6.3 rpg) who has been more of a complementary scorer out of the frontcourt. Black was an All-America East First-Team selection but had just nine points on 2-of-10 shooting against Maine, while Iati finished with 11 points. Black has had some issues with shooting consistency on the campaign as he nets less than 40 percent from the field while shooting at a 36.1 percent clip from beyond the arc. As a team the Great Danes are posting just 64.9 points per game while shooting 43.7 percent from the field.

Anthony Jackson led four players in double figures to lead Stony Brook to its rout of Binghamton. The Seawolves shot 52.9 percent from the field and nailed eight shots from long range in securing the win. They also had a 15-0 edge in points off turnovers and a 14-0 advantage in second chance points.

The AEC leader in field-goal percentage, Jameel Warney (12.2 ppg, 7.4 rpg, .629 FG percentage) had 12 points and was a rebound shy of a double-double against Binghamton. Jackson's (11.1 ppg) efforts against Binghamton were the most points he has had against a league opponent this season and the second most overall. Dave Coley (10.6 ppg) is the third member of the team scoring in double figures while Tommy Brenton (8.6 ppg, 8.5 rpg, 4.9 apg) is a jack of all trades. Stony Brook owns a sizable +11.6 scoring margin this season primarily due its defensive ability as the Seawolves hold teams to 56.8 points per game on 37.4 percent shooting.

Although Albany is actually playing on its home floor in this contest it didn't really matter last time these teams met. Expect the Seawolves to get the best of the Great Danes and use another strong defensive performance to punch a ticket to the final.

Sports Network Predicted Outcome: Stony Brook 68, Albany 59
