The Huskies shot only 33.3 percent from the field in the first half, compared to the Blazers' 36.1 percent, but made up for it at the line by shooting 7- of-11 and going up 31-30 at halftime. UAB did not make a single trip to the charity stripe in the opening half.

Both teams' shooting improved in the second half, but UAB was the more dominant, shooting an impressive 64 percent from the floor. The Huskies shot 44.8 percent from the field, keeping the game close until the final minute of play, in which they were outscored 5-1.

Despite surrendering 23 points off turnovers, the Blazers were able to hold on for the victory in a game where neither team led by more than eight points. UAB outscored its opponent in the paint, 34-24, and also outrebounded the Huskies, 45-29.
