GAME NOTES: The regular-season finale between the Texas State Bobcats and Troy Trojans may be between two of the worst teams in the Sun Belt Conference this season, but one team will nonetheless earn its way into the league tourney with a win on Saturday.

Texas State received 21 points and nine boards from Joel Wright on Thursday in a 63-53 loss to South Alabama -- a fourth straight defeat that dropped the Bobcats into a tie for last place in the league standings at 4-13. The Bobcats were plagued by 19 turnovers, which South Alabama converted into 17 points.

The Bobcats are led by Wright, who averages 15.0 ppg. No other player is averaging double figures for Texas State, although Emani Grant (9.2 ppg) and Wes Davis (8.7 ppg) aren't far off the mark. Texas State has only averaged 61.8 ppg this season, but defensively yields just under 66 ppg.

Troy lost a tough one to UT Arlington on Thursday night, 87-86, in double overtime. Hunter Williams had 25 points and Antoine Myers contributed 21 points and nine rebounds for the Trojans, who have lost four of their last five. Tevin Calhoun tallied 17 points on 9-of-17 shooting and Josh Warren cleared 11 boards in the setback.

The Trojans have generated a mere 68.6 ppg, shooting 41.9 percent from the field in the process. They are also one of the weaker free-throw shooting squads (.661). Their defensive effort hasn't been much better, as opponents put up an even 70.6 ppg in draining 44.6 percent of their total shots, which ranks Troy ninth in the 10-team league.

Williams (13.8 ppg, 3.3 apg) paces the club in both scoring and assists, while help comes from Myers (12.0 ppg, 5.2 rpg) and Calhoun (10.4 ppg, 3.9 rpg). Two others, Kevin Thomas and Jeff Mulahey, net 9.3 and 9.0 ppg, respectively.

Texas State won the only other meeting in the series, a 73-65 victory in their first meeting of the season on Jan. 25. Stakes are much higher on Saturday, and considering the Bobcats only have one true road win, expect the Trojans too keep dancing in March.

Sports Network Predicted Outcome: Troy 80, Texas State 75
