GAME NOTES: A Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference showdown will take place at Alumni Gym on Monday night, as the Fairfield Stags collide with the Rider Broncs.

This season has been a dismal one for Fairfield, which is just 4-18 overall, and currently enduring a four-game losing streak. The Stags have already racked up 10 losses in league play, with 11 total chances against other MAAC squads. They will return home to take on Monmouth in their next outing.

Rider is aiming for a third straight win on Monday after collecting wins over Monmouth (77-71) and Saint Peter's (71-53) in its last two tests. The Broncs are a pedestrian 11-9 overall, but they are currently tied for third in the MAAC standings with a mark of 7-4 in league play. They host Marist next.

The Stags have knocked the Broncs out of the MAAC Tournament in each of the past two seasons, while earning victories in four straight meetings overall. They also lead the all-time series, 30-24.

Paced by Anthony Myles and his 19 points, Rider was able to collect a road win over Saint Peter's last time out. Myles knocked down 5-of-6 shots from beyond the arc, part of a 13-of-24 effort from 3-point range by the Broncs, who limited the Peacocks to 34.8 percent shooting on their home floor.

Rider is scoring at a solid pace this season, netting 76.6 ppg, while ranking third in the MAAC in both field goal percentage (.447) and assists (12.8 apg). However, the Broncs' scoring differential is currently even, with foes connecting on 46.6 percent from the field. Myles (17.9 ppg) is clearly the leader for the Broncs, in more ways than one. He is currently fifth in the MAAC in scoring. Daniel Stewart (15.4 ppg, 6 rpg) is the second option, as well as the team's best rebounder. He had nine points and as many rebounds against Saint Peter's. Adding scoring depth are Jimmie Taylor (10.8 ppg) and Zedric Sadler (10.1 ppg).

Fairfield was simply run over on its home floor against Canisius on Saturday, dropping an 84-58 decision. The Stags only connected on 33.3 percent of their shots from the floor, while being outscored 25-5 at the free-throw line. Maurice Gilbert tallied 14 points on just 5-of-15 shooting.

No team in the MAAC is performing more poorly on offense than Fairfield. The Stags are last in the league in both scoring (61.1 ppg) and field goal percentage ((3.87), as well as eighth in assists (11.3 apg). Gilbert (13.4 ppg, 5 rpg) and Maurice Barrow (12.4 ppg, 5 rpg) are the top scorers on a roster that has just four players putting in more than five ppg. Barrow had only four points on 2-of-8 from the field, including an 0-of-4 performance from beyond the arc, against Canisius. KJ Rose (7.2 ppg, 3.4 apg) is the team's leader in assists.

A lack of scoring punch will once again be Fairfield's undoing, even at home, as it contends with a Rider team that features two of the better scorers in the conference in Myles and Stewart.

Sports Network Predicted Outcome: Rider 74, Fairfield 63
