NCAA Game Summary - Maryland at Duke

(Saturday, January 26th)

Final Score: (1) Duke 84, Maryland 64

Durham, NC (Sports Network) - Rasheed Sulaimon connected on six 3-pointers en route to a game-high 25 points as No. 1 Duke remained undefeated at Cameron Indoor Stadium this season with an 84-64 victory over Maryland.

All five Duke starters scored in double figures, as Mason Plumlee finished with 19 points and seven rebounds, Seth Curry dropped in 13 points and Amile Jefferson and Quinn Cook netted 11 apiece for the Blue Devils (17-2, 4-2 ACC), who were coming off a 90-63 throttling by Miami-Florida on Wednesday.

"Our guys played a terrific game this afternoon from start to finish," Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski said. "We just played well. They're big and strong and I thought they played very aggressive and good basketball and we just played a little bit better."

Dez Wells and Charles Mitchell each scored 13 points to pace Maryland (15-5, 3-4), which has dropped four of its last six games.

Alex Len added eight points and 10 rebounds in defeat.

"We competed in a really tough environment against a team that was ready to play," Maryland coach Mark Turgeon said. "Duke never quit, they played 40 minutes of really, really, good basketball."

Mitchell capped a brief 6-0 spurt by Maryland with consecutive layups to put the Terrapins on top, 13-12, but Duke responded with a 12-3 run capped by back-to-back 3-pointers by Sulaimon to jump ahead, 24-16.

The Blue Devils' advantage stretched as high as 10 twice before Jake Layman finished off a streak of six straight points with a shot from beyond the arc to bring Maryland back within 34-30 with just under four minutes to play in the first half.

Duke, however, scored the game's next five points to regain some cushion and carried a 43-35 lead into the break following Jefferson's layup in the closing seconds.

The Terps' deficit fluctuated between seven and 12 points in the second half as the teams traded baskets until Duke pulled away for good with a 19-8 run, handing the Blue Devils a 77-57 advantage with 4:39 left to play.

Maryland never got closer than 17 from there.
