GAME NOTES: Seeking just their second true road win of the season, the Towson Tigers pull into Philadelphia tonight for a Colonial Athletic Association clash with the Drexel Dragons.

The Tigers are an impressive 9-0 at home this season, but are just 1-6 everywhere else, with the lone victory coming against Coppin State in the warm-up to the conference opener against UNC-Wilmington over the weekend. Towson did take down the Seahawks at home by a score of 60-53, extending the team's current win streak to three in a row.

As for the Dragons, a team which is 4-1 in home dates, they managed to snap a three-game slide over the weekend as the Daskalakis Center, but needed a pair of overtimes to make it happen in a 93-88 final versus Northeastern. Just the second victory in the last six games overall for the program, it evened its league slate at 1-1.

In terms of the all-time series, one that dates back to 1969, the Dragons are ahead by a count of 46-15. However, Towson snapped a seven-game slide last season by sweeping Drexel, albeit by a mere four points in two games.

Jerrelle Benimon notched a double-double with 20 points and 17 rebounds, leading the Towson Tigers past the UNC-Wilmington Seahawks, 60-53, in a CAA matchup at SECU Arena. Benimon shot 6-of-13 from the field for the Tigers, while Four McGlynn added 11 points. Defensively, the Tigers held the visitors to 2-of-14 shooting behind the 3-point line and made sure that not a single reserve scored a point for the Seahawks.

The leading scorer for the Tigers in four straight games, Benimon is responsible for 17.9 ppg as he shoots 51.9 percent from the floor and has converted 90-of-117 (.769) at the free-throw line. Also the top performer in terms of rebounding with 11.1 rpg, Benimon seems to be doing it all for the program at the moment, adding top assist man to his repertoire with 62 dishes over 16 starts. Marcus Damas (11.4 ppg), reserve Rafriel Guthrie (10.7 ppg) and McGlynn (10.2 ppg) also play major roles on offense for Towson.

The Dragons dragged their meeting with Northeastern out for an extra 10 minutes on Saturday afternoon, but in the end Drexel came away with the home victory thanks to Frantz Massenat who came close to registering a triple- double with 27 points, 12 rebounds and eight assists, although he did shoot only 7-of-22 from the field. The overall leading scorer for the hosts was Chris Fouch who delivered 31 points, shooting 6-of-8 behind the 3-point line, followed by Tavon Allen with 18 points.

Even with his significant input on Saturday, Fouch is scoring just 17.8 ppg, shooting 41.8 percent from the field and 32.1 percent out on the perimeter. Massenat, now third on the unit in rebounding with 4.3 rpg, accounts for 15.7 ppg and a team-best 71 assists, but still it is difficult too look beyond his mere 37.4 percent shooting from the floor and 29.1 percent on the perimeter. The same goes for Allen (13.3 ppg), currently connecting on 39.4 percent from the field and a dismal 25.0 percent on the outside.

Being at home should give the Dragons an edge, but if they are forced to attack from the perimeter where they are a dismal 28.5 percent accurate, that would surely open the door for Towson to steal away a victory.
