GAME NOTES: The surging Saint Joseph's Hawks aim for their fourth consecutive victory when they host the struggling Fordham Rams this afternoon at Hagan Arena.

This will be the 300th Atlantic 10 game for Hawks coach Phil Martelli, who has watched his team grow into a success this season. Saint Joseph's enters Saturday at 8-3 in the conference, tied for second place with VCU, but both teams are chasing Saint Louis, which is still unbeaten in the A-10.

With nine wins in their last 11 contests, the Hawks have not only been winning consistently, but in the past they've also dominated the Rams. Saint Joseph's has won eight straight and 20 of the last 21 encounters. Additionally, the Hawks have won 15 in a row at home over the Rams. Fordham's last road win against Saint Joseph's came Dec. 3, 1990. Fordham is 3-25 against Saint Joseph's since joining the Atlantic 10.

The Hawks are coming off a 57-54 triumph at Rhode Island Wednesday. Ronald Roberts logged 18 points and nine rebounds to pace Martelli's squad. DeAndre' Bembry and Halil Kanacevic each scored 12 points as the Hawks rallied from a 10-point deficit.

Saint Joseph's, which averages 70.7 ppg, is led offensively by Langston Galloway (16.2 ppg). The senior guard is currently in fourth place on the school's all-time scoring list with 1,794 points. That is 51 shy of Carl Jones for third place. Roberts (14.3 ppg, 7.1 rpg), Bembry (11.4 ppg) and Kanacevic (10.9 ppg, 8.6 rpg) are also part of a starting lineup that includes Chris Wilson (9.3 ppg). The Hawks are winning consistently despite being last in the Atlantic 10 in free throw shooting (.635), although they are fourth in field goal percentage (.463), including second from beyond the 3-point arc (.376).

The Rams have lost three in a row, but have had plenty of time to prepare for this contest. Fordham's last game was an 82-70 setback at Richmond a week ago. Jon Severe dropped in a game-high 28 points for the Rams. Branden Frazier chipped in with 24 points and nine rebounds in the losing effort.

Fordham ranks seventh in the A-10 with 72.8 ppg and are led by Severe (19.1 ppg) on the offensive end. The freshman guard is first in the A-10 in scoring and is shooting 37.2 percent from 3-point range. He's making an average of 3.0 shots from beyond the arc, which also paces the conference. Frazier (18.2 ppg), Mandell Thomas (13.0 ppg) and Ryan Rhoomes (6.6 ppg, 7.5 rpg) are also part of the starting lineup.

The Rams have lost eight straight road games and haven't won such a contest since Dec. 10 at Colgate.

The 18-7 mark for the Hawks in their highest winning percentage through 25 contests since the 2003-04 season when they were 25-0. The Hawks' current 9-3 mark in the A-10 is the best for the team since the 2007-08 squad reached the NCAA Tournament. If the Hawks come out on the positive side today, it would give them their 10th win in A-10 play, the most for the team since the 2004-05 season. Expect Martelli's team to dominate.

Sports Network Predicted Outcome: Saint Joseph's 76, Fordham 61
