GAME NOTES: Both the Oakland Golden Grizzlies and Detroit Titans are coming off losses and looking to rebound as they clash in Horizon League action Saturday at Calihan Hall.

Oakland dropped to 1-2 in Horizon League play with an 84-75 loss against Milwaukee on its home court. The Golden Grizzlies, who own a poor 6-12 record this season, have won three of their last five matchups.

Detroit fell to 1-1 in conference play with a 73-63 loss to Cleveland State Wednesday night. The loss snapped a three-game win streak the Titans were riding, and dropped them below the .500 mark on the season.

Detroit holds a firm 11-1 all-time series lead against the Golden Grizzlies. Since their emergence at the Division I level, the two programs have met three times, with Detroit holding a 2-1 record.

The Golden Grizzlies have received some stellar contributions from several different sources this season, but haven't managed to put many full-team efforts together in single games. That was certainly evidenced against Milwaukee in Oakland's 84-75 loss Wednesday. Kahlil Felder scored a game-high 25 points for the Golden Grizzlies on 8-of-17 shooting from the floor. He added four rebounds and three assists to his stat totals. Duke Mondy was the only other Oakland player in double-figure scoring, netting 15 points and grabbing 12 rebounds for the double-double. The Grizzlies struggled mightily from beyond the 3-point arc, shooting 12 percent for the game, including a combined 0-of-14 effort between Travis Bader and Mondy alone.

Bader had only seven points against Milwaukee, but still leads Oakland this season in scoring with a hefty 20.7 ppg average. Based on his performance in the team's last outing, his 39.6 percent shooting from the floor seems to make sense. Corey Petros is second on the Grizzlies, averaging 13.4 ppg with a 55.4 percent shooting mark and a team-leading 8.2 rpg. Felder tops the team with an impressive 90 total assists this season. Oakland is shooting 42.6 percent from the field as a team.

Detroit fell behind by double digits to Cleveland State midway through the second half, but a late-game run cut the lead to four. The Vikings used what was left in the tank to create more space in the final few minutes, eventually winning by 10. Anton Wilson and Evan Bruinsma each netted 17 points for Detroit in the losing effort. Bruinsma grabbed 10 rebounds for the double- double - his fourth of the season. Juwan Howard Jr. hit 4-of-11 shots for 16 points in 32 minutes of action.

Bruinsma has been the hot player on the Titans recently, but Howard still leads the squad in scoring at 16.8 ppg. Bruinsma comes in at 12 ppg, but is dominating underneath the basket, averaging 8.4 rpg for Detroit. Njoku Ugochukwu only averages 4.8 ppg, but has a healthy 6.6 rpg mark with 26 blocked shots this season.

As long as Oakland continues to struggle at certain areas each game, the team will continue to suffer in Horizon League play. Detroit has the weapons to put Oakland away early in this contest.
