NCAA Game Summary - Delaware at Richmond

(Friday, November 8)

Final Score: Richmond 71, Delaware 69

Richmond, VA (Sports Network) - Cedrick Lindsay recorded a game-high 20 points as he led the Richmond Spiders over the Blue Hens of Delaware, 71-69, in the newly-renovated Robins Center.

Lindsay was 8-of-12 from the floor with three steals for the Spiders (1-0). Terry Allen just missed a double-double with 11 points and nine rebounds, while Alonzo Nelson-Ododa managed 13 points and seven rebounds while knocking down all five of his attempts at the free-throw line.

Delaware (0-1) was led by a 17-point performance from Devon Saddler, the leading scorer in the Colonial Athletic Association a season ago. Davon Usher recorded a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds, followed by Jarvis Threatt who added 14 points, five rebounds, three assists and three steals in the losing effort for the Blue Hens.

Despite missing all 10 shots from beyond the arc in the first half, Richmond was able to take a 32-31 lead into the break after Delaware made just 1-of-10 on the perimeter.

In the second half the Spiders shot 50 percent from the floor while holding the Blue Hens below 40 percent. After nearly blowing an 11-point lead, Kendall Anthony was converted clutch free throws in the finals moments to give the hosts the win.

The Hens suffered the setback despite outscoring Richmond at the free-throw line, 27-18.
