GAME NOTES: Firmly in third place in the Colonial Athletic Association, the William & Mary Tribe finish their home slate tonight when they take on the Hofstra Pride at Kaplan Arena.

At 9-5 in conference, the Tribe stands two games behind Towson and two in front of Drexel.

The Tribe has notched five victories in its last seven contests. Tony Shaver's team has been winning because of ball control. The Tribe has turned the ball over 10 or fewer times in nine of the last 11 games, that includes 6.7 giveaways over the last four contests.

William & Mary is coming off an 81-67 home win over Northeastern on Saturday. Marcus Thornton scored 25 points off the bench to pace the Tribe. Thornton converted 5-of-7 shots from behind the 3-point line. Also scoring in double figures were Tim Rusthoven and Brandon Britt with 12 and 11 points, respectively.

Thornton (19.0 ppg) paces the CAA in 3-pointers (3.1), and the junior guard has scored 25 or more points in five of the last 10 games. Rusthoven (12.3 ppg) leads the league in field goal percentage (.575), while Britt (10.3 ppg) is on top in the conference in league games only in 3-point percentage (.611). Senior forward Kyle Gaillard (6.6 ppg) and sophomore guard/forward Terry Tarpey (5.2 ppg, 5.9 rpg) are also part of the starting lineup for a team that averages 73.1 ppg and shoots nearly 40 percent from beyond the arc. The Tribe's scoring average is its best since the 1995-96 team put up 74 ppg.

The Pride has lost four in a row and nine of its last 10 contests. That includes an 83-77 setback at home to Towson on Saturday. At 4-10 in conference play, Hofstra is next-to-last in the CAA, only 1 1/2 games ahead of UNC- Wilmington. Hofstra was paced by Zeke Upshaw, who erupted for a game-high 33 points, shooting a perfect 12-of-12 at the free-throw line. Dion Nesmith contributed 14 points, Jordan Allen 12 before fouling out and Jamall Robinson 10 points before he too picked up his fifth personal of the afternoon. Moussa Kone was a presence in the paint with eight points, 12 rebounds and six blocked shots.

Upshaw (19.4 ppg), who has scored in double figures in 19 consecutive games, leads the offense for the Pride. Nesmith (13.2 ppg) and Robinson (9.0 ppg) is also part of the starting lineup for a club that is putting up just 67.2 ppg and shooting 65.1 percent from the foul line.

Hofstra leads the all-time series with the Tribe at 15-7, but the teams have split the 10 contests in Williamsburg. The Pride won the earlier meeting this season, 77-60, on Jan. 22 in Hempstead, New York. Upshaw had 21 points and Nesmith provided 15 points and 10 boards for the winners. Stephen Nwaukoni had 13 points and 14 rebounds for Hofstra, while Thornton scored 17 to pace W&M, which shot only 38.3 percent.

Expect revenge to be on the minds of the Tribe as they try to finish the home slate with eight wins over their final 10 such games.

Sports Network Predicted Outcome: William & Mary 75, Hofstra 65
