NCAA Game Summary - Austin Peay at Morehead State

(Wednesday, February 19th)

Final Score: Morehead State 90, Austin Peay 88 (2OT)

Morehead, KY (SportsNetwork.com) - Angelo Warner poured in a game-high 28 points, including the game-winning bucket in the final second of double overtime, as the Morehead State Eagles bested the Austin Peay Governors, 90-88, in an Ohio Valley Conference thriller at Ellis Johnson Arena.

Warner also added six assists and four steals for Morehead State (19-9, 10-3 OVC), which extended their season-long winning streak to five games. Chad Posthumus posted a double-double with 17 points and 18 rebounds, Brent Arrington netted 14 points and Luka Pajkovic scored 10.

For APSU (11-16, 5-8), losers of two straight, Travis Betran put up 24 points, Fred Garmon and Ed Dyson each had 13 points and seven rebounds and Chris Horton chipped in 10 points.

APSU shot a lofty 59.3 percent from the field in the first half, much better than Morehead State's 33.3 percent, but the Governors only held a three-point lead at intermission, 39-36. The Eagles kept the game close by making five 3- pointers and shooting 11-of-14 at the foul line in the opening 20 minutes.

The Governors led for the majority of the second half, including by three in the final minute, but Drew Kelly converted a three-point play with 27 seconds left to tie the score at 71. Betran missed a 3-pointer at the buzzer on the other end of the floor and the game went to overtime.

The Eagles came from behind in the first extra session as well, as Warner drew a foul with seven seconds left and knocked down both free throws to tie the game at 77. APSU missed another potential game-winner at the buzzer and another five-minute extra period was queued up.

After the game was tied for the 10th time following a 1-of-2 trip to the line for APSU's Will Triggs with 35 seconds left in the second overtime, Morehead State held for the final possession and Warner capitalized with the game- winning bucket.

Morehead State outscored APSU from 3-point range, 30-15, and won the rebounding battle, 39-31.
