GAME NOTES: The Temple Owls pull into Moody Coliseum licking their wounds as they take on the SMU Mustangs in American Athletic Conference play.

Temple enters with losses in nine of its last 10 games, including a lopsided 90-74 setback to city rival and nationally-ranked Villanova over the weekend. The Owls' only true road victory came at Penn in their season opener.

Meanwhile, SMU is unbeaten on its home floor in 11 tries this season. The Mustangs have won six of their last seven overall, and that includes last Saturday's 87-72 triumph over No. 22 Memphis.

Temple leads the all-time series, 2-0, although this marks the first meeting between these two teams since 1955-56.

The Owls are the only team in the nation with four players averaging 14 or more points per game, but the defensive play has often left much to be desired. Dalton Pepper is averaging a team-best 17.7 ppg, and he also leads the way in 3-pointers (3/game) and 3-point percentage (.421). However, he shot just 4-of-14 from the field against 'Nova and finished with 11 points in 40 minutes. Teammate Will Cummings (16.9 ppg) led all scorers with 24 points in that contest, the second straight game in which he led the Owls in scoring. As a team, Temple shot just 36 percent from the floor while the Wildcats shot 53 percent and sank a dozen threes. Anthony Lee (14.1 ppg, 9.1 rpg) posted his ninth double-double of the season with 12 points and 10 rebounds.

The Mustangs are shooting 49.1 percent from the floor this season while holding foes to 37.2 percent. Both of those figures are tops in the AAC. They boast a +10.9 scoring margin and are also a league-best +7.4 in rebounding margin. Two redshirt sophomores lead the way in Nic Moore (13.9 ppg) and Markus Kennedy (12.1 ppg). Moore is shooting at a ridiculous 47 percent clip from the perimeter (46-of-99), while Kennedy is pulling down a team-best 7.4 rebounds per contest. Last Saturday, the Mustangs handed Memphis its first conference road loss in two years thanks largely to that duo. Kennedy was a perfect 10-of-10 from the field and finished with 21 points, 15 rebounds and three steals. Moore scored 14 points and dished out a game-high 10 assists, as SMU shot a healthy 57.6 percent from the field.

These teams have been veering in opposite directions, and Temple faces an uphill battle on SMU's home floor. Expect the Mustangs to win this one rather handily.

Sports Network Predicted Outcome: SMU 87, Temple 67
