NCAA Game Summary - Ole Miss vs. Georgia

(Friday, March 14th)

Final Score: Georgia 75, Ole Miss 73

Atlanta, GA (SportsNetwork.com) - Charles Mann hit the go-ahead shot with just 16 seconds left to help the third-seeded Georgia Bulldogs to a 75-73 victory over the sixth-seeded Ole Miss Rebels in the quarterfinal round of the SEC Tournament at the Georgia Dome.

Mann led the Bulldogs (19-12) with 16 points, while Kenny Gaines and Brandon Morris each finished with 12 points. J.J. Frazier added 11 points and Marcus Thornton just missed a double-double with nine points and 11 rebounds. The Bulldogs will now face Kentucky in the SEC semifinal round on Saturday afternoon.

For the Rebels (19-14), Jarvis Summers scored a game-high 26 points, Marshall Henderson finished with 19 points, Dwight Coleby scored 10 before fouling out and Martavious Newby pulled down 10 rebounds.

Ole Miss shot 43.8 percent from the field in the first half, missing all but one of its 11 3-point tries, but the Rebels still went into halftime leading 38-36. Georgia made 45.8 percent of its field goal tries in the half, including 4-of-11 from beyond the arc.

After intermission, both teams struggled with their shots. The Rebels were the better of the two teams, making 39.3 percent, but again had difficulty from deep, shooting just 1-of-14 from 3-point range. Despite shooting just 27.6 percent from the field in the second half, the Bulldogs outscored the Rebels at the free-throw line in the second period, 21-12. Trailing by one, 73-72, with under a minute to play, Mann grabbed an offensive rebound off a Morris miss and put it back in for the eventual game-winner. After Henderson missed a 3-pointer at the other end, Thornton split a pair of free-throws to set the final score with three seconds on the clock. Summers had a chance to win it but his last second 3-pointer was off the mark.

There were 51 personal fouls called in the game, and the teams combined to shoot 73 free-throws. Ole Miss dominated in the paint, outscoring Georgia, 30-18.
