GAME NOTES: The San Diego Toreros have won their last two games, and will try to extend that mark to three in a row as they host the Pacific Tigers in a West Coast Conference tilt at the Jenny Craig Pavilion.

Pacific ended a two-game losing streak with a win last Saturday at Pepperdine, but fell back into the loss column Thursday night with an 88-78 setback against BYU. The Tigers are 2-7 in conference play this season - six and a half games back of the leader Gonzaga.

San Diego struggled out of the gate in conference play this season, going 0-3 before the team could snag a win at Loyola Marymount. Since then, the Toreros have gone 3-3 in WCC action, and own a 4-6 record in the conference. San Diego is coming off a 61-43 victory over Saint Mary's Thursday night.

Pacific owns a slim 5-4 series record over San Diego, but is 1-3 on the road against the Toreros all-time. The two teams will meet again down the road this season on Feb. 15.

Pacific jumped out to a very early lead against BYU, but the Cougars gained it right back and held onto it for the duration of the first half. Tyler Haws scored 21 of BYU's first 25 points in the game en route to the victory. Tony Gill came off the bench to score 15 points, which led the Tigers. Andrew Bock chipped in 13 points and four assists in the loss. Pacific shot an impressive 53.2 percent from the floor in the game, but it wasn't enough to keep pace with BYU's torrid scoring pace.

Sama Taku, who scored nine points in the loss to BYU Thursday, leads the Tigers in scoring this season with 12.2 ppg on 40.7 percent shooting from the floor. Bock is second at an even 12 ppg average, and tops the squad with 2.8 apg. Gill rounds out the three double-digit scorers for the Tigers this season at 11.1 ppg with a team-best 5.8 rpg.

Saint Mary's entered the game against San Diego Thursday night with a 76.3 ppg average, but the Toreros completely shut down any offensive attack the Gaels had, allowing them just 43 points in the contest. Johnny Dee led the San Diego squad with 17 points in the game, while Dennis Kramer and Duda Sanadze each chipped in 14 points in the win. Sanadze added five rebounds and three assists to his stat totals. The Toreros shot an even 40 percent from the floor.

Dee tops the team in scoring this season with 17 ppg on 42 percent shooting from the floor. Sanadze is second at 12.7 ppg, and Kramer checks in at third with 11.6 ppg. Kramer tops the squad in rebounding with 6.6 rpg. Christopher Anderson is the fourth and final double-digit scorer for the Toreros this season, netting 10.3 ppg and dishing out a team-best 110 assists on the year.

San Diego has been solid at the Jenny Craig Pavilion this season, and between Dee, Sanadze and Kramer, the Toreros have played well when the three players are all having even average games. With the conference standings in mind, look for San Diego to jump ahead early and coast to victory.
