GAME NOTES: The Oklahoma Sooners and Texas Longhorns both have identical 11-2 records, and they'll open their respective Big 12 Conference schedules against one another at the Erwin Center.

This will be the first true road game of the season for Oklahoma. The Sooners are coming off Monday's 102-98 setback to Louisiana Tech in Norman, Oklahoma, which snapped their seven-game winning streak.

Texas is 8-1 at home this season and has won six of its last seven overall, including Monday's 66-44 triumph over Rice. The Longhorns are 14-1 in Big 12 home openers under head coach Rick Barnes.

OU owns a 48-35 lead in the all-time series, although Texas has won the last eight meetings. The Longhorns claimed a 92-86 overtime victory when these teams last met up on Feb. 27 in Austin.

Oklahoma's Cameron Clark played the role of both hero and goat in Sunday's loss to Louisiana Tech. With less than four seconds remaining in regulation, Clark grabbed a defensive rebound, sprinted up the floor and buried a 3- pointer at the buzzer to force overtime. But in the extra session, he lost control of the ball as he was going up for a jumper with less than 10 seconds remaining, and Louisiana Tech sealed the outcome with free throws at the other end. Clark finished with 26 points and eight rebounds to pace six Sooners in double figures, while frontcourt mate Ryan Spangler posted a double-double with 20 points and 13 boards. The Sooners have used the same starting lineup in every game this season, and all five starters are averaging double figures, led by Clark with 18.5 ppg.

For Texas, junior forward Jonathan Holmes leads the way with 13.1 ppg and is second on the team with 6.9 rpg. A 52-percent shooter from the floor and 42- percent from 3-point range, Holmes is one of five players averaging double figures for the Longhorns. They did not need a ton of offense to beat Rice over the weekend, as the defense bottled up the Owls to the tune of 29.1- percent shooting from the floor and just 44 points. Holmes had a team-high 15 points and grabbed six rebounds for the Longhorns, who held a 42-29 rebounding advantage and outscored Rice at the foul line, 19-6. Cameron Ridley was next in line with 14 points, followed by Connor Lammert with 10 points and six boards off the bench.

Both of these teams are off to somewhat surprising starts, particularly Texas, which lost several key players from last year's team that did not win its 11th game until mid-February. The Longhorns will have a slight edge here as they have been tough to beat at home.

Sports Network Predicted Outcome: Texas 75, Oklahoma 69
