GAME NOTES: The two teams with the best overall records in the Horizon League get together at U.S. Cellular Arena on Sunday as the Milwaukee Panthers host the Green Bay Phoenix.

Green Bay is sporting an impressive 12-3 mark overall and is the only team that has yet to drop a league outing. Granted, the squad is still only 2-0 versus the rest of the Horizon, but the Phoenix are enjoying a seven-game win streak overall thanks to a 98-62 thrashing of Chicago State on Tuesday night on the road.

Meanwhile, the Panthers are a team that has already surpassed its entire win total from last season (eight). The squad has won three of the last four outings overall, thanks to an 84-75 triumph against one of the newest additions to the league, Oakland.

As far as the all-time series is concerned, the Phoenix own a 29-21 advantage over Milwaukee after making a clean sweep of all three meetings a season ago, which included a matchup in the opening round of the Horizon League Tournament at the Resch Center.

Green Bay lit up Chicago State earlier this week, shooting 64.9 percent from the field in the second half and 55.9 percent overall, en route to the 36- point pounding. Keifer Sykes tallied a game-high 21 points and handed out nine assists, followed by Alec Brown with 20 points and five boards in just 26 minutes of action. Also landing in double figures were Greg Mays and Carrington Love with 19 and 10 points, respectively, the latter accounting for three of the unit's five made 3-pointers.

Sykes might be leading the Phoenix in scoring with 19.6 ppg, shooting 51.3 percent from the field and 83.3 percent at the free-throw line, but his effort on the perimeter (.286) is still rather questionable. However, he has tried to offset that deficiency by spurring the offense on with his 79 assists. Brown (16.0 ppg) is second on the glass with his 6.3 rpg, trailing only Jordan Fouse (8.4 rpg), but the presence of Brown in the paint tends to loom even larger with his 52 blocked shots, one fewer than all of the Green Bay competitors combined.

Even though the Panthers put five players in double figures, the win over Oakland on the road was far from comfortable. Steve McWhorter led the way with 17 points and seven assists, followed by Kyle Kelm and Matt Tiby with 15 points apiece, the latter also clearing a team-best 10 rebounds as the program posted a 45-37 advantage on the glass. Austin Arians and Cody Wichmann pitched in with 13 points apiece as the team shot a solid 50 percent from the field, but a shaky 63.6 percent at the free-throw line.

The effort at the charity stripe versus Oakland was the weakest for the Panthers since the fourth game of the season versus James Madison, but still the group is hitting at an impressive overall rate of 74.5 percent. Of the team's 72.9 ppg on the season, approximately one-fourth have come at the charity stripe and Tiby (13.9 ppg) is a big part of that with his 95-of-121 showing, converting more shots than any of his teammates have yet to attempt.

Both of these teams are playing great basketball of late, but the fact that Green Bay demolished an opponent on the road in such a manner the last time out should bode well for them this time.

Sports Network Predicted Outcome: Green Bay 77, Milwaukee 71
