GAME NOTES: The Southeast Missouri Redhawks will try to end a four-game losing streak when they host the struggling Tennessee State Tigers in Ohio Valley Conference action at the Show Me Center on Saturday evening.

This past Tuesday, Tennessee State played its final non-conference game of the regular season, falling to Middle Tennessee State in a 74-66 final.

Patrick Miller scored 22 points to lead the Tigers, who failed to follow up only their second win of the season with another victory. M.J. Rhett posted a double-double with 10 points and a game-high 12 boards for Tennessee State, which has lost five of its last six, and 15 of 17 overall this season.

The Tigers were held scoreless for the first three and a half minutes of the contest and found themselves down 30-11 with just over six minutes to play before halftime. TSU eventually drew within 43-38 in the second half and then got within 64-60 late in the game, but MTSU hit 10-of-12 shots from the free- throw line down the stretch to ice the game.

Despite the loss, Tennessee State blocked a season-high eight shots and outrebounded the Blue Raiders, 42-37.

Miller leads the team in scoring with 20.9 ppg. The senior also dishes out 4.1 apg and grabs 4.1 rpg. Miller has launched more than twice as many shots as his next closest teammate, and more than doubles up the next leading scorer, MJ Rhett (10.1 ppg).

As a team, the Tigers net just 65.9 ppg and shoot only 26.4 percent from 3- point range.

Southeast Missouri State enters tonight's game off a 107-94 setback to defending OVC champion Belmont on Thursday. Jarekious Bradley scored a game- high 27 points, but it wasn't enough as the Redhawks lost their fourth straight game, and sixth in seven outings overall.

SEMO shot a blistering 57.6 percent from the field in one of its best offensive games of the season. However, Belmont, which trailed only twice on the night, finished by shooting 63.3 percent, knocking down a season-high 17- of-26 3-point attempts.

Tyler Stone brought SEMO to within 31-29 with 8:54 left in the first half after a layup, but the Bruins answered with a 14-7 run to push ahead by nine, 45-36, and Belmont went into the half with a 55-50 edge. The Redhawks could only get within three points in the second half, as a late 16-6 run by the Bruins put the game out of reach, 107-89.

Southeast Missouri was one of the preseason favorites to win the OVC, but has started 0-3 in league play. Bradley leads the OVC in scoring with 21.6 ppg. He also grabs 7.3 rpg while hitting 51.4 percent of his shots from the field, including 41.1 percent of his 3-point tries.

Stone, the preseason OVC Player of the Year, is second in scoring for the high-scoring Redhawks. Stone averages 17.4 ppg and a team-best 9.1 rpg. As a collective unit, SEMO averages an OVC-best 83 ppg, but its 76.7 ppg yield is among the worst in the conference.

Southeast Missouri State, which is 3-2 at home this season, needs this game to get back on track. Tennessee State is one of the worst teams in the conference and anything other than a blow-out win would be disappointing for the Redhawks. Expect Bradley, Stone and company to take their recent frustrations out on the Tigers, who are 0-8 on the road this season.
