GAME NOTES: The Butler Bulldogs continue their first tour of the Big East with a bout against the Seton Hall Pirates at the Prudential Center on Wednesday.

Butler dropped to a 1-7 conference record for the first time since the 1989-90 campaign on Saturday when it suffered a 69-52 loss to St. Johns at Hinkle Fieldhouse. The setback was the worst at home for the Bulldogs since the 1993-94 season. Coach Brandon Miller's squad was held to 1-of-8 efficiency from behind the 3-point line by the Red Storm and set a new season-low for scoring output for the second consecutive outing. Butler has been outscored by an average of eight ppg since entering league play.

While the visitors are at the bottom of the conference standings, the Pirates are in the middle of the back with a 3-4 mark in league play. Seton Hall picked up its second victory in three outings on Saturday with an 86-69 rout of DePaul. Coach Kevin Willard's team shot 62.1 percent from the field in the first half to take a 20-point lead into the intermission. The Pirates are 12-8 overall including an 8-4 home record.

This will be the first meeting in history between the Bulldogs and Pirates. Seton Hall is the only team remaining in the Big East that Butler has not yet faced at least once.

The Bulldogs' dynamic duo of Kellen Dunham and Khyle Marshall continued to spearhead the charge on Saturday versus SJU. Marshall scored a team-high 16 points and Dunham contributed 10 points. Butler has not had a consistent third option on the offensive end. Kameron Woods posted seven points and grabbed the same number of boards in the loss, while Andrew Chrabascz came off the bench to tally eight points. Dunham is the third-leading scorer in the Big East at 18.1 ppg and Marshall is ninth with 15.8 ppg. Butler does not have any other players carrying double-digit scoring averages to this point, however Woods is pacing the conference on the boards with 9.5 per tilt.

Fuquan Edwin scored a game-high 30 points to lead Seton Hall to the 20-point win over the Blue Demons. The senior swingman converted 11-of-16 shots from the field in the contest while eight of his teammates added in the scoring column. Junior forward Patrik Auda tallied nine points, six rebounds and five assists while Sterling Gibbs chipped in seven boards and five assists. Gibbs has made a huge impact in his first year with the program since becoming eligible following his transfer from Texas. The 6-foot-2 sophomore guard is netting 15.1 ppg to go along with a team-high 4.4 apg. Edwin is second on the team with 13.7 ppg, while Eugene Teague is a double-double threat with 10.4 ppg and 8.6 rpg.

Butler does a great job of taking care of the ball and crashing the offensive boards, but it will have trouble in both of those areas against Seton Hall. Teague and Auda are both solid rebounders who will be able to counter Marshall on the interior and Edwin is the Pirates' career leader in steals. Dunham will have to overcome one of the conference's elite defenders for the Bulldogs to survive their inaugural trip to the Prudential Center.

Sports Network Predicted Outcome: Seton Hall 68, Butler 63
