GAME NOTES: Already with a combined 10 losses after just two weeks of action, both the Presbyterian Blue Hose and the Rattlers of Florida A&M shoot for their first wins of the campaign as they take part in the championship round in the 2012 Las Vegas Invitational.

One of five teams from the MEAC that is still winless heading into the weekend, the Rattlers again came close on Friday but failed to get over the hump in an 86-83 overtime affair versus Longwood. With the defeat, the second overtime outing in the last three games for FAMU, the team has now dropped six straight games going back to last season.

As for the Blue Hose, they've lost every one of their games thus far by no less than 14 points, although the difference more often than not has been in and around 30 points. On Friday, it was more of the same for the squad with an 89-55 setback against Cornell in this event.

This game marks the first-ever meeting between these two programs.

Presbyterian fell behind the Big Red immediately on Friday and was never able to recover, converting just eight field goals in the first half and 37.3 percent from the floor overall. Khalid Mutakabbir was responsible for a game- high 17 points and he also pulled down six rebounds for Presbyterian, while Jordan Downing delivered another 14 points, but that's only after he shot a mere 4-of-16 from the field, including 2-of-8 beyond the arc where the group was 5-of-17 overall. The offensive production for this group has been awful to say the least, with the squad shooting only 36.3 percent from the floor as they produce a meager 47.6 ppg. Downing and Mutakabbir are responsible for 12.0 and 11.8 ppg, respectively, but that doesn't mean all that much when the defense is giving up 78.6 ppg based on 51.4 percent shooting from the field for those foes.

The Rattlers remained winless on the season despite a 26-point performance from Jamie Adams on Friday in the team's overtime loss to Longwood in this building. Jamari Bradshaw added 18 points for Florida A&M, while Markee Teal and Muhammad Abdul-Aleem finished with 14 points each. FAMU was able to force the Lancers into 21 turnovers on the day, but at the same time the Rattlers crippled themselves with a mere 13-of-25 shooting at the free-throw line. It also didn't help that the squad made good on just 4-of-18 out on the perimeter. Adams has now led the team in scoring in two of the last three games and has held at least a share of the scoring lead in three outings to this point, which is why he is averaging a team-best 16.6 ppg, to go along with slightly more than two assists per outing which also paces the group somehow.

Presbyterian's defense to this point has been dreadful, which means the Rattlers have more than a fighting chance in Saturday's outing on a neutral floor.
